Hello, lovely lovelies♡ I woke up this morning......and you were on my mind ♪♪♬♪♬♫ Just channelling Crispian St Peters. =) Though, I really have been waking up in the mornings and thinking of some of you, of late♡ I hope you are travelling okay, all things considered; living in this alternate universe we find ourselves♡
Here in my little universe, within the safe cocoon of my humble home, sheltered from the ails of this sorry world; and where the summery garden embraces me every day, I've been fashioning more flower baskets. I was a wee bit excited on Friday as I thought there were enough flower baskets for the quilt and the piecing of rows could begin. But. Alas. No. It seems more are needed. Now, if this girl's muddly head wasn't more often than not, lost in dem arty farty textile clouds, twirling and whirling around all things fabric, ribbons, flowers and baskets, she would've realised the layout she imagined was just not going to work. So, with both feet once again on terra firma, and with a new layout decided upon, the appliqueing of new baskets is under way. Though I'm loving all these pretty baskets, the appliqueing of the baskets is wearing a bit thin....just a tad. So, perhaps next week there may be a Flower Baskets flimsy to ooh and ahh....and wax lyrical about.
One of these things is not like the other...
Just lovely colors--reminds me of coming Easter tide days....such pretty baskets of flowers, Kim.
ReplyDeleteThat wool for the sweater looks so soft...don't you just love cabling???
It used to be my favorite thing to do...so rewarding to see the twists and turns come out...;))) Hugs, for a great week to come Julierose
Lovely baby sweater...can I come and take a cable knitting class with you?? Those baskets of flowers are just what I needed--we still have lots of snow and cold here but March is fast approaching...
ReplyDeleteWhen I was a child, my grandmother gave me a piece of Lavender Rose china for every birthday and Christmas. I have a full set and use them once in a while. Do you just have the little creamer or the full set of dishes?
We sang those same Sesame Street songs when my daughter was little. She also loved to watch Mr Rogers and even had a zippered sweater that she wore when we watched the show.
Take care.

we watched He Man and She-Ra (princess of power) and Transformers and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles instead of Sesame Street - till i became a nonna and tuned into Daniel Tiger and Arthur for my grandbabies ... anywho, your baskets are my favorite things today!!! real flowers instead of snow covered brown grass - thank you for adding some color to my day!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you, I love the flowers. I did notice that you'd placed 'real' flowers into the baskets you'd fashioned. Such lovely flowers and baskets, too. The basket quilt will be outstanding as I can see that each basket is fantastic and each will glorify the quilt. Thinking of you, also, Kim. Blessings...
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely quilt it will be! So perfect for spring. Of course, you must be moving towards fall, but actually, spring is a frame of mind, I think! So pretty with all the blossoms and petals strewn about and in the baskets. The tiny sweater looks so soft and cozy. What Mum wouldn't want to cuddle her baby in that on a cool day? Now I have that sweet song in my head. I haven't thought of it in a long time! I do miss those days of watching Sesame Street with the little ones. I tried to get my grandsons interested in it, but there are so many other good programs on these days. Their favorites were Daniel Tiger, Peppa Pig, Cocomelon and of course, The Wiggles! xx
ReplyDeleteThose little baskets are just dreamy, Kim and I even spotted a bee in one. Adorable. Enjoy the clickey clack of your knitting needles . I wish you a productive and beautiful day. Hugs.
ReplyDeleteThat looks like an awful lot of yarn for one small cardi! Lovely soft grey though. The baskets are looking lovely - I would probably have got bored with sewing them a long time ago lol. Gorgeous flowers though. I managed to sit in the garden for a while yesterday after doing some gardening, the sun was lovely. I admired my few flowering daffodils - most are not open yet - and my lovely hellebore. Back to rain again today. Have a lovely week. xx
ReplyDeleteHow lovely! Those flower baskets are so pretty, what a lovely idea. Your little corner of the world sounds like heaven all that beauty in one little spot, far away from this grey stark vista that is greeting me this morning, but Spring is round the corner. Enjoy your cabling and your cuppa. 😊
ReplyDeleteIt is rather like heaven here, Linda. I love living in this little corner of the world. That grey, stark vista of yours will soon be dancing in spring colour. How exciting for you. You will be able to sit in that pretty conservatory of yours and enjoy all the flowers in your garden, while you crochet one of your amazing pretties. Have a lovely week, lovely Linda. Kim Xx
DeleteSewing and knitting ! With lovely flowers all around !
ReplyDeleteYou never stop ;)
Have a beautiful week !
Anna
I try not to stop, lovely Anna. Life is much too short not to fill the days with flowers, sewing and knitting.....and a little crochet; don't you think?? =) Kim Xx
DeleteHow adorable your little baskets are! I love the added flowers ;) Love the little bee and the bird too. Enjoy your cup of tea and your marvelous garden. Hugs
ReplyDeleteso colorful as always - you are always busy
ReplyDeleteThose baskets are adorable and make me long for spring. Another two months and we will start to see spring here.
ReplyDeleteMelbourne Breakfast Tea sounds interesting. My current favorites are Irish Breakfast Tea from Trader Joe's grocery and Breakfast in Paris by Stash Tea. Your flower baskets are so pretty. I look forward to seeing the arrangement that you decided on. I used to love watching Sesame Street with my children. All the fun songs.
ReplyDeleteYour baskets are just darling, Kim! The saturated-color solids will make a perfect backdrop for quilting designs, and all those florals atop them delight the eye. Looking out at a snowy Midwestern Sunday, they make me say, “Come on, Spring!!” 😻 Hugs, Nancy O.
ReplyDeleteOn another note, thank you so much for directing me to the articles about your masterwork, Pete’s Garden. I would encourage everyone to explore all your finished works, but start with that one. What a window on the soul of your beloved! And what a gift of your own interior beauty you have shared in the telling of his formative experiences. I’m in awe, truly…Warm hugs, Nancy O.
ReplyDeleteNow you have me singing, Kim! I love your flower baskets - needing more to make the quilt can only be a good thing. Hope you are enjoying your Sunday knitting!
ReplyDeleteYour baskets are beautiful, keep going it will be worth it, love your alternative baskets too. Beautiful knitting . Sue (kiwikid)
ReplyDeleteCute baskets and lovely flowers!
ReplyDelete¡¡Cuanto color en tus fotos!! y cuanta alegría nos proporcionas con tus flores y cestas de tela; el jersey se ve muy bonito. BESICOS.
ReplyDeleteOh, you bring such cheer and happiness. I love all those melodies running through first your head and now mine. And those pretty flowers: oh, what loveliness to see in contrast to the 6 or more inches of snow. I can't bring myself to go outside. Keep on stitching on those pretty baskets. And what great knitting you do: so sweet.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful baskets and flowers, and as always love your beautiful prose. It brings a smile to my face. Hope you have a great week Kim. Am hoping to get out in the yard in between everything else and sort out my gardens now that we have a little sun!
ReplyDeleteI love sweet peas, the wonderful colours and the beautiful scent, but have never had much luck growing them. So I will enjoy yours instead.
ReplyDeleteYour flowers are just beautiful Kim .... you still have lots blooming in the garden it seems. My poor garden has flopped in the drought (rather like its Gardener I might add). That yarn colour is just gorgeous. xx
ReplyDeleteYour baskets of real flowers are just beautiful :) It sure looks like you have.a very good start to your stitching, I do like that color gray!
