Shades of Blue ♡

Hello, lovely lovelies♡ Welcome to my little place where shades of blue are brightening my day....and my soul♡ Blue♡ 'Tis the colour in all it's shades which makes my heart sing♡ So many colours in all their variational tones make my heart smile, but it is the hue blue that will always sing the most lyrical of songs♡

Why am I waxing lyrical (again) about the hue blue?? Why, I'm crocheting another granny square cardie, and it is dancing in lovely shades of blue.  After crocheting a cardie for my  foray into crocheting I decided I 'needed' a blue one. After all, a girl can never have too many cardies. Oh, I do love me a cardie or two.

I'm enjoying crocheting my little blue cardie. The wool is Patons 5 ply Bluebell,  manufactured here in Australia. Crochet is fast and easy...well the humble granny square is. 'Tis even faster if one didn't make little boo boos and have to frog what has been crocheted already. =) This pretty was started two weeks ago, with the sleeves left to be done. I continued crocheting these this afternoon for Slow Sunday Stitching......and will do some more this evening. It was a pearler of a day here with the sunshine beaming happiness upon my little place. The perfect Autumn day. As I sit here crocheting I'm struck again just how quickly crochet morphs into a finished garment in next to no time. Now......I really need to advance my crochet skills and learn some other granny square patterns. A flowery granny square pretty, would be tickety boo. I'm thinking a garment in pretty greens for my next garment.

A sweet brooch to cinch the two fronts together.....sweet hydrangeas, of course.

As I sit here in the fernery with the blue, blue sky above me and sunshine beaming happy rays through the windows; with the birdsong breaking the silence and the leaves slowly changing colour, one feels cocooned from the outside noisy and blaring, dark world. And it is deafening, isn't it?? Oh, if only we could be kinder, more understanding, more compassionate; treating others how we would like to be treated. Simple really. Apparently, not so. But enough of me philosophising....I'm off to cook a roast lamb dinner. =)

May my little light, and yours,  in our little corner of the world, shine bright, through the day, through the night♡

Until the next time...

  7. I am also drawn to blue…it seems that we should form a blues guild but not because we are sad! Pretty cardigan! The broach reminds me of one my aunt used to wear. My cousin gave it to me after my aunt passed away. Your hydrangeas are gorgeous. The sun has been shining here too…everything is better when the sun is out. Gail at the cozy quilter

  9. I love the color blue I have noticed a long time ago that out of all the fabric I have in my sewing room I have the most of blue and green. I love the hydrangeas.

  12. Lovely shades of blue! As always your choice of yarn and patterns are well coordinated. I take note of the darling mismatched cup and saucer. Some call that a ‘marriage.’ The vintage vase is so very cottage chic!

  13. I too am partial to blue with some lavendar thrown in. Your sweater is very pretty. I have always found crochet to be very relaxing. I love the brooch you are using as a fastener.

  14. I'm glad you're having some sunshine. We've been cold and rainy and the nights are down near freezing, but the trees and grass are greening up anyway. Pretty brooch. I don't wear much blue (except for blue jeans, which hardly count). I agree on the sad state of the world. I've decided for my mental health I need to stop reading about elections and polls, and trials, and wars. Now if I could just get out and play in the dirt.

  17. What beautiful shades of coordinating blues you have chosen to crochet with, Kim! And that lovely blue jug/vase holding your hydrangeas really caught my eye. What a lovely vintage piece of pottery it is! Enjoy the sunshine today- it is going to be 24 here in central Victoria!

  18. I love blue, too, next to pink being my favorite. Your cardi is glorious. Have I told you how wonderful your tension is? That is something most people struggle with but perhaps all your knitting is carrying over into crochet. Of course, I looked at your cup-of-tea and thought...is that the one that is featured in the tea cup fabric? You need to tell me which it is so I don't have to do that each time because I had to go BACK and look!!! BTW, I must send you that cup fabric that I ordered. I know I took the picture but I don't think I sent it. Will do. Have a sweet week.

    1. Thank you so much, Sandi. I find the 'join as you go' method to be the easiest for joining the granny squares. It's really just like crocheting another round, around the squares. Works up really quickly. =) Kim Xx

  25. I do love the shades of blue too, I like the cream center of the squares and that broach is so sweet to top it off for sure. I too like how crochet can work fast, and granny squares have always been easy for me to do so that makes it more enjoyable :)
Hope you have a wonderful rest of your week!

  26. That’s a pretty version of your crochet cardi and a hydrangea brooch to clasp it. With all the beautiful things surrounding you, is it any wonder that occasionally you are distracted?
