The Brushstrokes of Autumn♡

Hello lovely lovelies♡ A lovely welcome to my little place on this Sunday morning. For those of you who were wondering if I had gone missing in action, indeed I did. Sometimes.....life just gets in the way. But....here I am once again beaming a little flowery and stitching joy, to you♡ For those of you who have emailed me to say that you were missing a little Sunday joyousness emanating from my little place....'your wish is my command'....though, you may well be sorry what you asked for. Mmm....a plethora of happy snaps, I'm afraid. =)

Autumn has waltzed in and with a magical paintbrush has begun to dab splashes of paint here and there in soft, rustic hues. There is the slightest hint the trees are beginning to change into their autumnal frocks; but it is the hydrangeas where autumn has wondrously transformed the summer colours into beautiful, autumnal hues. The summery shades have now morphed into those antiquey, vintage hues that hydrangeas are renowned for. Pale blue into the softest green, deep blue into wine, lilac and mauve into plum, maroon into currant.....just gorgeous♡ The hydrangeas I have left in the garden are beginning to brown with the cooler mornings, but the bucket loads I have picked to bring inside are beginning to transform into mellow shades. Oh, and sometimes, just sometimes there are those quiescent, mist cloaked, cool mornings with just a sense of sunshine filtering through the pearlescent sky. Again.....just gorgeous♡

All the blocks for my Skipping Along The Garden Path quilt have been finished. Yay oh Yay! Four hundred and thirty two little pentagons have been stitched in a garden path pattern. The blocks need to be stitched together but I will wait a while. I still have no thoughts as to whether I will add some little dresdens; or if I will just hand quilt 'stunning' quilting patterns in the centre of each ring. My tongue is firmly fixed in my cheek when I say "stunning" as I am truly not the world's best quilter. =) I will get back to you with what I decide upon....shall I?? =)

A little more quilting to Hydrangea Cobblestones has been done. My needle happily skipping around the border in a meandering fashion wherever it will. I am marking the lines as I go....so very relaxing. Later on this evening I will quilt some more, joining in with all the other lovely Sunday Slow Stitchers over at Kathy's lovely place.

Hoping I have sprinkled a little joy into your day♡ Sprinkles of autumnal joy♡ Sprinkles of hydrangea, antiquey loveliness♡ Sprinkles of stitching loveliness♡ May you enjoy a beautiful day♡ I must be off for there's a cake to be baked in readiness for a delightful afternoon tea with some beautiful friends; in the Fernery of course♡ Sprinkling a little love, lovely lovelies, into your day♡

Until the next time..................

And those hydrangeas only get more lovely every day of Autumn don't they? ;)))
I hope my one bush comes back after cutting it drastically last year...It had attracted way too many bees and it is near our deck sitting area so my DH lopped it down (that was a sad moment!!;(((
I hope your Sunday is a restful one... hugs, Julierose

  30. Hydrangeas are one of nature's wonders I think. It's always a surprise to see what colours they become in the autumn. Of course here in Canada they don't seem to be as vibrant as what you enjoy.
Still dealing with snow flurries off and on here and the temps refuse to get much above freezing. I keep hoping for warmer days but looking back in my journal from the two previous years I was reminded that we had snow the end of April. Maybe, just maybe, this year will be different!

  31. Always good to find you in my inbox Kim. Autumn mornings are just the best! Your hydrangeas are looking stunning, something we need to get for our new garden. 33. Most definitely a nice dose of stitching! The hydrangea cobblestones takes my breath away, those colors are so gorgeous. You can't even fool those of us who can at least appreciate handwork - we know you're an expert!

  34. I truly LOVE when you put your bits and pieces out on the clothes line---right in their element---and your connection with nature becomes so clear.
Fabric gardens---with all the color and tactile touch of the real garden. Love all the shades of your Hydrageas..what a bumper crop! You are finishing up your growing season, and ours hasn't even started. Sigh, I can't wait for blooms---maybe in a month. Hugs, Sandi

  35. Thank you for sharing all those gorgeous photos and all the flowers, too. I am not at all surprised that you've heard from others about not getting a blog posting. Truly, we all look forward to hearing from you and seeing such beauty in pictures. It's wonderful to see all the fall colors that have transformed the hydrangeas. Theer is just a bit of spring outside with crocuses that are blooming and tulips with their sweet growth popping up. Waiting to see the buds on the trees beginning to open which makes them so fuzzy looking. Your hand quilting is perfect in my eyes. You'd feel much the same if you saw 'mine'!! I'm eagerly waiting for the end of this quilt and it's hand-quilting!! Perhaps, I may be finished by the end of August. lol

  38. Your pictures are magazine-worthy, and I think I spy some pink cosmos in that first picture:)

I love your quilt blocks! They are beautiful. I'm sure you will come up with the perfect quilt pattern for them. What color thread are you considering? I'm no expert, but I'd chose something that would contrast with the gray, so people will be sure to see your hand quilting.

  39. Your quilts and flowers are always so lovely! I am quite taken by the white flower tipped in red by your little girl statue, can you tell us what that is?

    1. Thank you so much, Gertie for your beautiful words. The flower is a begonia, though I don't know the exact name of that particular flower. It is rather beautiful, isn't it? I went to a flower festival a few months ago and quite a few potted begonias came home with me. I simply could not resist the big, blousy flowers. Kim Xx
