Hello lovely lovelies♡ More Hydrangeas♡ I know....I know.....but just humour me, if you will. =)
An enlightened person once said "Flowers whisper 'Beauty!' to the world, even as they fade, wilt, fall." And they do, don't they?? Everyone, especially me, loves a flower at the first breath of beauty. Love, love, love when flowers pop up in their season; the petals unfurling to reveal bright, beautiful and colourful blooms. The full glory of the flower is for all to see and delight in. Then, when the flowering season begins to come to an end, the petals begin to fade and wither, many falling to the ground and then, seed heads appear. These flowers at the end of the season's cycle are still beautiful. I thought a lot about the beauty of faded flowers this week as I was playing with hydrangeas for a photo shoot. As I arranged flowers here, there and everywhere, I was struck yet again at the abundant beauty of the muted hydrangeas in autumn. Truly, they are stunning; and they will remain stunning for a long time yet.
Besides playing with hydrangea blooms this week I enjoyed some more hand quilting of Hydrangea Cobblestones. Meandering quilting lines are now finished on the bottom and one side. Flight patterns of the butterflies♡ Same ol' same ol' I suppose, but even so......so, so pretty. This evening I will enjoy a little more quilting with the other lovely slow stitchers who gather at Kathy's place.
It has been a delight to have you visit my little place♡ Thank you♡ Thank you for humouring me yet again, as you wandered around my gallery of still lifes with the beautiful, autumnal hydrangeas as the main subject. =) It has been fun these last few days gathering together analogous objects....an old and faded textile pretty, a friend's cast off tapestry-like picture (truly worthy of a photo or two =) ) a wire basket, a pretty frame, pine cones, fallen leaves, a pretty vase or two, twirls and twirls of pretty ribbon, a length of faded passementerie, books; experimenting, playing....fiddle faddling with each pretty, styling all in an assemblage of unexpected compositions. Oh, how I love to play 'stylists'. =) When I grow up I want to be a stylist....or perhaps a florist, or a theatrical set designer; but then, a costumier hiding in the bowels of the theatre happily stitching a pretty ruched flower or a little exquisite embroidery to a silk gown for a thespian would be the best fun♡ Oh, the possibilities are endless. =)
Hoping you enjoy a beautiful week, lovely lovelies, where sprinkles of love, kindness and beauty fill your days♡
Until the next time.................

ReplyDeleteLos colores que han tomado tus hortensias son realmente hermosos y los viejos objetos decorativos, las piñas.... el anuncio de una nueva estación.... del otoño con todo su esplendor. Feliz semana y BESICOS.
ReplyDeleteI love your Hydrangeas quilt, such pretty colours. Isnt there an old wife's tale which goes "blue and green should never be seen"? Quite wrong really, as of course there are all these shades together in nature. As for your faded beauties, they are stunning. I have a vase of long stemmed lavender which have dried out, and still have some of that amazing scent, just lovely.
ReplyDeleteBreathtaking vignettes! Blessings and a lovely week ahead!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, lovely Maristella. May your week be a lovely one, too Kim Xx

DeleteIt is a beautiful day here; warm enough for Freddy to do some outdoor painting. Oh, oh, a flower is about as beautiful as it can get unless it's Kim's photos of flowers artfully arranged. Such beauty... I'm still hand quilting my POTC quilt to the extent that I even wore a hole in my thimble!! I'm sure I must be doing something wrong to get a hole already since I started to use it mostly on this quilt and I only got the thimble in April of 2018. Oh, hummmmm. They are supposed to repair or replace...
ReplyDeleteI love visiting your place. Thanks for having us over. :-)
ReplyDeleteI think the autumn hydrangeas are more stunning in colour than the one colour summer flowers they have more depth shown up beautifully by your stunning photos.then there are the rose hips and poppy seed heads so beautiful along with flowering grass heads ,the forgotten garden flowers by many people but so beautiful in their own right.I am watching and waiting for the maples to have their colour their chance to shine if only for such a short time but don’t they shine.
ReplyDeleteAutumnal hydrangeas do have a beauty all their own, don't they?? I always consider poppy seed heads; cosmos and all those other garden flowers when they die down, to be lovely in floral arrangements. Maples are always gorgeous in autumn. Our deciduous trees are beginning to change into those glorious autumnal hues. Soon there will be a colourful carpet of leaves to dance upon.
DeleteYour photos are beautiful. Those vases are gorgeous alone, but breathtaking with the hydrangeas.
ReplyDeleteVery happy to follow your steps as you style. You made the tapestry 3-dimenional! It is snowing here in Oregon. I need a cuppa a chat with you, my friend
ReplyDelete....and I would love a cuppa and a chat with you, lovely Annette♡ Then we could play stylists together and play with pretty flowers and pretty fabrics....and quilts. =) That would be the best fun. Kim Xx
DeleteBeautiful, wonderful photos! :)
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Nikki. Kim Xx
DeleteLike pretty fabrics, one can never have too many hydrangeas (or roses, or dahlias) and you create such beautiful vignettes with them. I never tire of seeing your artistry, whether in fabric or flowers. Enjoy your fleeting autumn. We are still waiting for spring to settle in.
ReplyDeletePat
I loved seeing all of you hydrangeas! My daffodils are almost gone, and the azaleas are blooming now. I should get out there and take some pictures too.
ReplyDeletewow your autumn hydrangeas are simply stunning, and I love the little vignette you've put together :)
ReplyDeleteJillxo
Wonderful photos, Kim! You captured your hydrangeas perfectly! I, too love taking photos of flowers and often use them as backdrops for my crochet photography!
ReplyDeleteOh Kim, the muted colors of the hydrangeas are so stunning! The way you’ve styled them with all the pretty accessories is pure works of art! Enjoy your autumn as we are enjoying our spring.
ReplyDeleteSuch beauty captured in still life, Kim. I enjoyed seeing all of your 'stylings' with the pretty crockery, painting, fabrics, books and quilts. Each one a true work of art inspired by your gorgeous hydrangeas. The picture frame is beautiful, too. I love the thoughts of what you would like to be 'when you grow up'. We are all still little girls with dreams, aren't we? Enjoy your beautiful flowers and stitching and thank you for always sharing the beauty of life. Hugs xo K
