A Sunshiny Sunday Morning♡

Good Morning to you, lovely lovelies♡ 'Tis Sunday morning here at my little place and I do believe it's cup of tea time. But then, it's always a cup of tea time here at my humble home.

I've had a pleasant week just appreciating the simple things of life. With days of spring, sunshiny sunbeams casting warmth upon me, I have puttered about enjoying myself doing a little of this and a little of that; and sometimes, revelling in doing absolutely nothing at all.

A little gardening was 'enjoyed'. I use the word 'enjoyed' rather loosely as I don't really like getting down and dirty in the garden these days. Oh, dem old knees! Of course, I could cut bunch after bunch of flowers till the cows come home, but weeding, pruning and other labour intensive garden tasks, I'm just not a fan. My body is feeling a little old and creaky these days gardening for hours on end, and it seems to take so much longer. Thank goodness Pete loves to spend his days pottering about in the garden. I did a little pruning though. Our Waratah shrub was decimated in the storms a few weeks ago so it was in need of a good tidy-up. Such a pity, as Pete has for a couple of years now cajoled and teased it into the perfect shape. So we start again. As I gathered all the branches and flowers together I took these striking crimson blooms inside and captured the gorgeousness of these pretties in a happy snap or two.

Waratahs are gorgeous flowers consisting of many small flowers densely packed into a compact head or spike. The one in our garden is a vibrant crimson and the beauty is quite striking.

And the photos?? Just playing, really. I used a gorgeous fabric for the background.........Hollyhock Delight - Cottage Garden by Snow Leopard Des. Philip Jacobs. Love, love, love the blowsy flowers in those gorgeous colours. The Waratahs and fabric really do sing beautifully together. Of course books, teacups and a sweet machine sketched embroidery which I fashioned many moons ago were added.

I enjoyed a little hand quilting on my Crazy Flowers quilt, too. Hand quilting dizzingly round and round the scrappy flowers.  As it is Sunday I will quilt a little more for Slow Sunday Stitching.

I started another quilt. Oh dear! A little while ago I fashioned a charity quilt and as  I loved all the bright and happy squares of floral deliciousness, I decided I wanted one as well. So, I machine stitched many flowery blocks which are now waiting to be joined together in rows.

Oodles and oodles of floralicious delight sashaying in the spring sunshine.

I'm off to enjoy a little springtime sunshine and see what flowers there are in the garden to snippety snip. Sending you a little springtime, flowery love to you, lovely lovelies♡ Have a wonderful day♡

Until the next time.......

Colour My Wintry World With Flowers♡

Hello lovely lovelies♡ A lovely Sunday welcome to you♡ It has been a dreary, wintry kinda week here. But I don't care as there have been splashes of sunshine in the form of pretty winter flowers, new Tilda fabrics and a few more hexie flowers flourishing on my Flower Meadow quilt.

'Tis amazing how flowers put a sparkle into my day, especially a cold winter's day. My garden is bereft of flowers, but my beautiful friend, Trish, has gorgeous proteas blossoming in her garden at the moment, so when she asked me if I wanted a bunch or two, I of course said a resounding YES! These flowers would put a smile in any ho-hum kinda day.

The two proteas are Special Pink Ice (Special neriifolio x Susanna) and Protea repens - Sugar Bush. Although many consider proteas native to Australia, they actually hale from South Africa, but share many of the growing requirements of our Australian natives, so they thrive really well here and are very popular. Both flowers are stunning and will look fabulous in a vase for a very long time.....and the flowers are huge. Just gorgeous!

I purchased some new Tilda fabrics this week. Have you seen the new Tilda collection?? There are three collections, called Bloomsville, Garden Vista and a blender collection....Abloom. Apparently the Bloomsville and Garden Vista designs are inspired by old chinoiseries and a sweet motif found on a vase from a factory  that closed in the 1960's. The fabrics are blooming in colours of  Fern, Sky, Blue, Iris, Cornflower, Corn, Turquoise, Dijon, Prussian, Pine, Lagoon......all dancing in bright, summery hues. I particularly love the blender fabrics called 'Abloom'. They are quite simply gorgeous. Tone Finnanger has done it again. Goodness, she is a clever designer. I am slowly replenishing my floral fabrics as I have gone through quite a lot this past year, so these gorgeous fabrics will be a welcome addition to my stash.

With the baby quilt now finished, and as I dream up some more pretties for my wee poppet I picked up my  Flower Meadow quilt again. This week I have been preparing more flower hexies and stitching these pretties to the quilt. I have been evening-up the sides with the green fabric as I go. As it is Sunday, I have enjoyed a lovely afternoon slow hand stitching my Flower Meadow in The Fernery, for, surprisingly enough, after a woeful morning Old Man Sun decided to cast little bursts of happy sunbeams over my little place.  All these flower hexies are a vision of summery loveliness sustaining me through these dismal winter months.

Of late, when Sunday rolls around I  think "what can I write about"?? How can I sprinkle a little beauty into the 'world'?? But a few flowers, a few new fabrics and a little hand stitching of a pretty quilt and there you go, a new post in which to wax lyrical about colouring my wintry world with flowers. Why should all you lovelies who are deeply immersed in the joy of spring/summer have all the fun. =)  The world is a much better place with a few flowers, a few new pretty fabrics; and definitely a little hand stitching of a pretty quilt; don't you think?? Thank you once again for visiting my little place where, this week, I have been colouring my little place with the beauty of flowers. Flowers gifted by a beautiful friend♡ Flowers flourishing on gorgeous fabrics; and flowers blooming on my Flower Meadow quilt♡ Have a lovely day, lovely lovelies♡ May your day be coloured with splashes of beauty♡

Until the next time........

Just......More♡

Hello lovely lovelies♡ 'Tis a lovely Sunday morning♡ The beginning of another week♡ I must say last week was one with lots of snapshots of  moments of a little more of this and a little more of that. A week where the things that had to get done were punctuated with more, more, more of the things that bring me contentment♡

More......walks in the garden with my Maisie♡ More misty mornings♡ More blue, blue, summery skies♡ More gossamer, silky, shawl-like spider webs with beaded droplets of dew glistening in the mist♡

More.....floribunda......flowers♡ More Dahlias♡ More Roses♡ More Sweet Peas♡ More Hydrangeas♡  More Gladdies♡

More....hand quilting♡ Just a little. I have begun the begin of hand quilting  my quilt,  Crazy Flowers, with an explosion of crazy fabrics forming even crazier flowers. Simple, little hand-quilted stitches, do-si-do-ing round and round and round the octagon-shaped flowers; giving a sense of petals tightly wrapped together before they unfurl to reveal blooming crazy flowers. The little squares in between the flowers have a simple cross skipping through them. I was going to machine quilt this pretty, but on second thoughts I just wanted to sit and enjoy slow hand quilting. I really didn't want to wrestle with the quilt and the sewing machine. Sore shoulders, hunched back.....no, no, NO!!!!

More.....tea and cake.........book readin'.......magazine browsing♡ Actually, if truth be told, much, much, much more tea and cake. I am enjoying Renegrades, Born In The USA, the dialogue between Barack Obama and Bruce Springsteen, and I am loving reading The Dictionary of Lost Words by Pip Williams.

More......playing, designing and stitching another bag♡ When my very dear friend visited me last year she happened to see my pretty blue bag, and my pink bag she asked if I would make her one. I said "well.....if you can find bag handles of similar ilk, yes, I will whip you up a pretty bag". Now, I must say at this interval I was quite smug about my friend not finding handles such as the ones I had, as these days they are pretty much rare as hen's teeth. I might also add that I was quite certain that because of this I wouldn't have to make yet another bag. =) Yes indeed...very smug. Wrong!! Believe it or not, the next day we went shopping, my friend darkened the door of an op shop and lo and behold she came out with similar bag handles in her hand!! I might add at this juncture that she was beaming with a wide lookity-look-at-what-I-found smile on her face! Needless to say I am now fashioning my lovely friend a one-of-a-kind-Kim-Sharman bag. Be careful what you say, Kim. =)

More sweet little hexies♡ Hexies fashioned from my new Tilda, Pie In The Sky fabrics♡

A week with little bits of more, more, more♡ A week just doing more of what adds a smile to my day. How about you?? Were there more moments of beauty in your days?? More moments of doing what you love, squeezed in between the mundane, the 'must do's' of  the everyday?? I hope so♡ I have to hurry off now. It is a day where my good husband and I will be travelling over mountain and down dale as he is preaching at a couple of little country churches. On days such as this I call him the 'travellin' preacher man'. =) It will be a pleasant day where I will catch up with beautiful people and enjoy a little hand stitching as the beautiful countryside rolls by with the blue, blue, summery sky above. A little hand quilting perhaps.....or a few sweet hexies. I will just go with the flow and hand stitch some more, more, more. But then, I may just want to relax as the scenery whizzes by and read my book. In any case I will enjoy some hand quilting later this evening. As it is Sunday when all things slow stitching is celebrated, later this evening I will pop by Kathy's lovely place and see what all the other lovely lovelies are stitching. Love, love, love Sundays♡  Have a lovely day, lovely lovelies♡

Until the next time....................
