Hello lovely lovelies; lovely friends♡ 'Tis Sunday evening once more. How quickly the weeks pass by. How quickly summer is passing by. Though, the days here are anything but summer. Too many cool days and not enough of the summer days of old. I do live in Tassie though, where one can experience four seasons in one day. One always needs a cardie, or indeed, a denim jacket with crochet sleeves, on standby. =) Perhaps, some hot, sizzling days are just around the bend of my country road.
The hydrangeas are finally beginning to morph into their lovely colours. It's taken an age for the gorgeous hues of blue to burst onto the scene. Outside my sewing room window the deep mauvey blue hues are lovely. Needless to say, I managed to fill a few vases with these pretty blooms. =)

This week I've been trippin' around the fabric world again. Since I last chatted about my Trip Around The World quilt there are several more rounds of 2" squares that have been stitched onto the quilt. Though the stitching of each square is relatively quick, the choosing of the fabric for each new round is not. It can take what seems like forever to choose the 'perfect' fabric which will dance harmoniously with the others. Also, the fabric which I consider to be the bee's knees, I discover there's not enough fabric to dance all the way around. Sadly, this is one quilt which certainly isn't going to use up my scraps. Before I embarked stitching this quilt I was all excited about the fun fabric play, but again, there's a helluva lot of omphaloskepsis going on. There's that word again. It's the story of my life, these days. =)
Today, for a bit of
slow Sunday stitching, I continued trippin' around the world with a pretty blue fabric; reminiscent of a Liberty floral, me thinks.
This afternoon, from the comfort of my sofa, I enjoyed taking a trip to a few countries of the world. With feet up and cozying down on plump cushions I picked up my In Her Studio magazine and visited many artists, of all genres, and had a sticky beak into each one's studio. I zigzagged from country to country, visiting Fleur Woods (of The Untamed Thread fame) in New Zealand...Joanna Turner-Fuller who creates whimsical botanical art in Northamptonshire, England...Pamela Angus who works magic with glass in France........artist after artist inviting me to spend a moment in time in their creative space. I must say I'm always thrilled to escape into another's unique creative space, drooling over the photos, reading the artists' words...their stories. From cover to cover, inspiration abounds.

Thank you for visiting my little place, lovely lovelies; lovely friends♡ May we, you and I, this week, when the world seems to teeter on the brink of several calamities at once, find pleasure in the simple, everyday things which make you, and me, smile♡ Take care of you♡ Let your little light shine♡
Until the next time......
Those Hydrangeas look gorgeous and I love, love, love your Trip Around the World. Just gorgeous Kim. That looks like a lovely book to wander through. xx
ReplyDeleteLove your Trippin' Around the World. Great colors. Your hydrangeas are so pretty.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful flowers from your garden. I love the fabrics you are including in your trip around the world quilt. I made a quilt for my daughter’s first big girl bed with that pattern over 30 years ago. Yes. The news is worrying these days. Gail at the cozy quilter
ReplyDeleteHi Kim
ReplyDeleteBeautiful hydrangeas, love your trip around the world quilt. Lots of work, but so pretty.
Four seasons in one day sounds like England
Best wishes Kay cxx
Kay, they say Tassie is a little England. I suppose that includes the weather as well. Summer this year has been very hit or miss. There is a lot of work in my TRTW quilt but I'm enjoying stitching the squares round and round. Have a lovely week, Kay. Thank you for your sweet visit. Kim Xx
DeleteThe fabrics in Trip around the World are gorgeous. I like the process of choosing fabrics (I generally never have the right one and have to buy more!) and of course the bigger it get the more you need! Have a good day.
ReplyDeleteYour Trippin' Around the World is just gorgeous and so are the hydrangeas... I just saw some beautiful pink and white ones at a friend's house and thought I should really plant some... one day! xx
ReplyDeleteWhat a pretty quilt!
ReplyDeleteLovely fabric choices for your TAW rounds, Kim!! You have such a bevy of beautiful florals to use;))) What a pretty piece to work on...and the hydrangeas are stunning!!
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful week full of relaxing stitching hugs, Julierose
Dear Kim, So very true. Creativity is so inspiring and contagious in a good way. It tickles the brain and starts to give us a spark to want to create something of our own in mediums that is so far removed from what can and will inspire us. Love your trip around the world, those hydrangeas are a sight to behold. We have had so much snow and cold up north, we are ready for spring to come soon and summer. Alas, it is still a good two months away. We will just have to colour our world with fabric and thread, stitch by stitch.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous, gorgeous quilt Kim !
ReplyDeleteAnd hydrangeas !!!!!
It's always a pleasure to visit your blog !
Have a lovely, shinny week !
Hug
Anna
such beautiful hydrangea's I will love it when mine begin to blossom in 4 months or so :(
ReplyDeleteIt's amazing how the colors of your flowers always seem to match the colors of your fabrics. The hydrangeas are very rich looking.

Your Trip Around the World quilt is beautiful. I love the fabrics. Your hydrangeas are bountiful and so very pretty. I found that magazine on instagram and will do some exploring there.
ReplyDeleteI love that design, Kim, and your pretty floral fabrics! Are you doing this with EPP? I've wondered how it would be to make a TATW with hand-piecing. Maybe I'll give that a try. Hope you're having a lovely day - maybe it will be Monday when you read this! Will we survive the mad orange wannabe king and his enablers? I'm not sure. Much anxiety here!
ReplyDeleteYou know I just had to look that word up, don't you. I'd never heard it before, but now I know what it means. You have such beautiful blue hydrangeas, I've never grown them myself. My neighbour here has six or so growing in pots in her front yard, beautiful blues and rich deep purples. Keep tripping around the world, it's coming along so well.
ReplyDelete¡¡Qué maravillosas hortensias!! me encanta verlas 💜 y esos pequeños cuadraditos están quedando preciosos. BESICOS.
ReplyDeleteHi Kim, I absolutely love that design! Everything looks gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteYour Hydrangea's are absolutely gorgeous! I admire your hand stitching trip quilt.
ReplyDeleteYour beautiful patchwork quilt is perfectly harmonious, dear Sarah… a true feast for the eyes, just like the gorgeous shades of blue in the blossoms.
ReplyDeleteWarmest regards from Viola.
I wish you much joy with your crafting and lots of coziness.
You're always a bright spot in my week. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteYour hydrangeas are beautiful Kim, I hope some warmer weather has come to you, but not the searing heat we had here that sucked the life out of lots of plants!! Loving your Tripping, the fabrics are beautiful.
ReplyDeleteLJ here. Your hydrangeas are down-right gorgeous. Don't they just go with your Around the World quilt? You add lots of brightness to my days.
ReplyDeleteoh, those flowers are so beautiful!!! when i look out my window, all is brown ... hmmm ... except the sky ... the sky is as blue as your hydrangeas - maybe i'm looking for color in all the wrong places?!?
ReplyDeleteOh wow your flowers are popping out quite nicely aren't they. We are in the frigid state here, so nice to see pretty flowers! You have found some lovely fabrics that work well together, so lovely!
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful.

I love pretty much all of the Stampington magazines but they are SO expensive here. In some cases they're more expensive than buying a book, so I rarely buy any. I did indulge in an issue of 'Made' recently and have drooled my way through it several times already.
ReplyDeleteYour hydrangeas are once more beyond spectacular! Of course they're my favourite colour so they are pretty perfect in my eyes. The RC has made an executive decision that he won't be growing as much on our balcony as he has done previously after a summer spent hauling water out there at least three times a day for very little reward. He refuses to let me do the honours so I will leave it up to him what he chooses to do.
