A lovely Sunday welcome to you, lovely lovelies♡ Though Old Man Sun is doing his darndest to cast happy sunbeams here at my little place, 'tis a wee bit chilly for my liking. =) I do wish Spring would get a hurry on and warm up a bit.
I have another finished quilt to showcase today. After finishing the quilting of Flower Meadow two weeks ago I picked up Into The Woods, a quilt which I began to imagine and fashion this time last year, when the blossom trees were just beginning to unfurl, cascading like waterfalls; and as it had been resting on the 'to quilt' pile for a little too long I decided to quilt it. A whimsical pretty using a vintage children's doona cover, where there are deer, porcupines, hedgehogs, wily foxes, wise old owls, squirrels, singing birds, rabbits and sweet mice resting beneath toadstools. Sweet, sweet creatures who live and sleep, dance and play, engaging in all manner of adventures in the woods. These sweet animals are surrounded by scrappy EPP diamonds in a rainbow of glorious colour and pattern set in large triangles.
Such fun stitching hand quilted stitches skipping up and down the central panel; and so, so quick to do. For the border, straight quilting stitches marching one behind the other all the way around the green and white gingham. The backing is the fabric which was on the back of the doona; and I bound the quilt by making a self binding using the backing fabric.
The quilt is so cute! Riley will enjoy snuggling in it with you. I hope she comes for a visit soon!

DeleteWhat fun granny and sweet ‘lil Riley snuggled under the quilt as they travel to make believe land. I may have missed the piecing part of the flowery triangles. Would they have been stitched together by hand or machine?
ReplyDeleteEsta colcha es un verdadero sueño lleno de colores. BESICOS.

DeleteOooh, so pretty! Congrats on another finish. Hopefully Riley will come visit soon.
ReplyDeleteIt's a cute quilt. Happy spring! I imagine your garden is ready to burst.
ReplyDeleteAnother beauty for sweet little Riley to snuggle under, plus a pretty matching pillow case too. Do you have enough of the pretty fabric left to put a border on a top sheet too.?
ReplyDeleteOh, my goodness! Such a beautiful quilt...and I love going into the woods! Haven't visited in a while and have missed all the beauty that comes from you and around your home. Will take some time and look back at all I have missed.
ReplyDeleteI meant to say too that it does still look chilly there especially with the breeze blowing the quilt around. :)
ReplyDeleteLJ here. What a sweet, sweet quilt. You say, so easy, but I don't truly believe you. Sorry, it seems almost to wonderful to be 'easy'. You will need to read "Alice in Wonderland" to Riley while you snuggle under that quilt. I know, I know, she's not quite old enough but there will come a time. Seems a perfect story for that magical quilt. Have a lovely week, Kim.
ReplyDeleteAnother beautiful quilt Kim, and I can see you and Riley enjoying many a happy hour under it.
ReplyDeleteTed looks quite cozy nestled into that wonderful quilt and I know Riley will feel the love when she visits you and cuddles beneath it. Perhaps with Teddy too. Not only that she can play I-Spy with it too. Definitely a winner!
ReplyDeleteOh dear me Kim ... you have disappeared from my blog reading list again - I do not know why this happens - hence I have missed your posts & thought you might still be away. I think Into the Woods is just SOooo beautiful & can just see you & little Riley snuggled underneath that quilt reading stories & telling tales of make believe. A most perfect place to be 💙💗xx
ReplyDeleteIt is a beautiful quilt, love how you finished it off and it will be a wonderful thing for you two to share when you have her visiting, hope that time can come soon for you. Hopefully it won't be long and you will feel the warmth heading your way!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely amazing! Best wishes dear Kim.
