Hello lovely lovelies♡ Welcome to my little place, this sunny, Sunday afternoon♡ A beautiful day, with sunshine beaming warmth everywhere; ricocheting happy shadows and reflections all over the place. Love, love, love when dancing sunbeams illuminate all manner of pretties, in glass doors and windows. My sewing room was such a pleasant place to while away a few hours. I spent the morning in there, tidying up a little, finding new homes for bits and pieces....and I must say it was bliss, drinking in all the sunshine and pretty pretties.
When last I chatted here, I was buried under an avalanche of fabric, coming up for air only when I found the perfect fabric for the next hexie flower for my Flower Meadow. Oh....and of course......for food. =) Oh dear, the floor was covered with fabric, fabric, fabric. Gosh, such a helluva mess. Well, I am pleased to say I can now see the floor and all my fabrics are neatly stored away again in my armoire and all the itty bitty scraps well contained in a basket. All is well with my little sewing room. Neat and tidy. Just how I like it.
And.....why are all the fabrics and scraps corralled together once again?? Why, I finished stitching the hexies for my Flower Meadow. She's now a flimsy!! Yay oh Yay!! Truly, I'm beside myself with great joy!! Flower Meadow is now a vision of bright and happy hexie flowers jostling for space in drifts of colour and pattern. All the little hexies for the border are finished, too. Love, love, love the green border........assymetrical as it is. =) Love, love, love all the fussy cut flowers, too. Let's just say I love everything about my Flower Meadow. Love too, the backing fabric which is a pretty green with itsy bitsy flowers flourishing all over. I think this fabric teams beautifully with the quilt top.
Now for the quilting of my Flower Meadow. Because I want the quilt to look like a wild and relaxed meadow of flowers, I'm thinking I will hand quilt around each hexie flower. The KISS method once again....'Keep It Simple Stupid'.....in case you were wondering. =) One of these days I will hand quilt in fabulous and fancy designs.....but not this day. =)
Have a lovely Sunday, when it beams sprinkles of sunshine at your place (well....I hope it does). Later on this evening I will visit Kathy's slow hand stitching party, from the comfort of my rather squishy squashy sofa and see what all the other lovely lovelies are working on. I will have to find a pretty to stitch, of course. But then, there is some baby knitting I could enjoy, too. Mmm.....decisions, decisions. Just like Cecily, unable to make a decision, I'll enjoy a cup of tea instead. Thank you for blessing my Sunday with the gift of your sweet visit♡ Have a lovely day♡
Until the next time............
Linking up this week to Kathy's Slow Sunday Stitching and

I tend to be in the indecision frame of mind also as to what to work on when sitting on my sofa. Enjoy your quilting and knitting.

You did have some beautiful sunshine streaming in didn't you, sure is nice when you can see what it will look like in natural light :). How exciting to have it finished and looking so lovely, with all your wonderful flowery fabrics adorning it! I love how it is framed with the lovely green fabric, so perfect for the hexie flowers to sit upon!
ReplyDeleteAn absolutely dreamy quilt top. One could spend hours admiring all the fussy cut flowers swirling about. And to think the border is all hexies as well. Such a lot of stitching in such a short time. You are amazing.

Wonderful, wonderful! What a feast for the eyes. I laughed out loud at 'the kiss method' , haha, not heard that before! What beautiful fabrics you have collected, I want to go shopping now!
ReplyDeleteHaven't you?? I don't know when I first heard this acronym but it was a very long time ago. 'Tis such a fabulous saying, isn't it?? AND......it's become my mantra these last couple of years when it comes to hand quilting. Complicated hand quilting patterns seem to be beyond my capabilities. =) In my dreams magical and complex hand quilting exist, but in reality, alas no. Who knows, one day?? But then, I am not getting any younger. =) As for the 'beautiful fabrics', why, they are the result of a carefully curated collection over the years. Naah ... just joking, fabrics flourishing with flowers all over inevitably seem to end up in my bag. A wee bit of an addiction, I'm afraid. I am in need of a therapist!! As ever, 'tis such a delight to have you stop by and gift me your kind words. Hope you enjoy a lovely week, lovely Loraine. Why me thinks you need to fit in a day for-the-shopping-of-some floral-fabrics. =) Kim Xx
DeleteHi lovely Kay,
ReplyDeleteJust answering your beautiful comment here. I'm afraid I clicked the 'Delete' prompt instead of the 'Publish' prompt. So, so sorry. Sometimes I wonder about me. =) Please know your visits to my little place always makes my day that little bit more pleasant. Thank you for your sweet words re my Flower Meadow flimsy. Have a beautiful week, lovely Kay. And.......I promise with my hand on my heart I will not banish your comment to the never never regions, ever again. =) Kim Xx
Visiting your beautiful sewing room takes my breath away. All the pretty fabrics folded neatly away in the most beautiful cabinets! I've always thought that folding and displaying pretty fabrics is as much fun as sewing the bonnets and aprons I make. Seeing your sewing room makes me want to carry a bucket of white paint into my little sewing room and re-decorate. :) Sometimes the brown rustic logs get a little too rustic. :( Your Flower Meadow flimsy is so so beautiful...even your clothespins are pretty! :)
ReplyDeleteCecily...unable to make a decision so.... I'm so glad you also have a choice to make. Sometimes just having a coffee, tea, or cold drink is enough. I tell myself that it's wonderful that I have a choice; though it's darn hard to make a decision at times. It's hot one here today - nearly 90. We have had a few cool days so that's been pleasant. Rain...not as much as we need but glad to get any. Your Flower Meadow is so sweet. Love (of course) all the flowers and the border you choose was perfect. It'll be wonderful to see it all finished - that won't be long cuz you are a whiz at hand-quilting. :) I so enjoyed your sewing room; I, too, love getting it back into shape and picking up all the pieces after a project is completed. Have a splendid week, Kim.
ReplyDeleteDo you read Bonnie Hunter?? Today's post had a quote at the end of her article which says, "Dreams become reality one choice at a time." Serendipity...
ReplyDeleteHi Kim, love your wonderful field of flowers. They are gorgeous. Such loveliness needs to be quilted with the KISS method. It would be a waste to do otherwise :-) It's always fun to visit your studio. Take care.
ReplyDeleteFlower Meadow is delightful! I love the beautiful mix of colors, fabrics, and flowers. And how fun to see photos of your sewing room and collection of fabrics.
ReplyDeleteStunning Kim. Such a delight, it is going to be a beautiful quilt. xx

ReplyDeleteDear Kim, I daydreamed in your sewing room... nice... beautiful.
ReplyDeleteYour new work is already a work of art. I love it... the little violets and birds are so nicely hidden, it's a joy to find them. Your colors and splendor of flowers will accompany me throughout the day, although... the roses are blooming in garden min.
A dear greeting to you and a thousand kisses.
Oh, you have roses in the garden, Viola?? I cannot wait till the roses show their pretty heads here. It won't be for a long while, though. For the time being my Flower Meadow will have to do. =) Thank you for your beautiful visit, dear Viola. Enjoy your summer days filled with roses. Kim Xx
DeleteLove, LOVE your sewing room, Kim! All those glorious flower fabrics, that's better than any sweet shop, so much inspiration; I can see that one can just get lost in there and never come out again, LOL! I agree with you about the green border, compliments it so well. I am all for KISS too, my favourite method.
ReplyDeleteYou have created yet another heirloom masterpiece Kim - you should be hugely proud of this one. And your sewing studio is an inspiration. It's no wonder such beautiful quilts come from there. How I wish I could come and fondle all those pretty fabrics!

Beautiful collection of print fabric. Wonderful flower. Very nice written you.
ReplyDeleteKim - I have been away from blogging for several months - nothing bad, just a very busy summer and our daughter's wedding! So happy to stop by and see what is going on in your world - no surprise it is still filled with fabric and other fripperies!
