Flowers, Flowers .....Everywhere

A lovely welcome to you! My little world of late has been filled with flowers, flowers and then some. There are flowers blooming everywhere in the garden; Tulips, Irises, Granny Bonnets, Rhododendrons, Azaleas, Lilacs, Foxgloves and so on and so on.  There are more flowers blooming on my quilt as well, but more about that later on.

Spring down here is constantly delighting with the most amazing colours and fragrances. Truly, the garden never fails to delight and surprise. Each morning as I walk around the garden it seems new magic awaits me. At the moment the Irises are showing off. They truly are gorgeous.

It won't be long till the Lilacs and Wisteria take centre stage. Oodles of preserving jars are filled with blooms ready to be scattered throughout my home and what better way to take happy snaps of these pretties than to showcase them with the backdrop of the pond. =)

The Tulips at the Tulip Farm I visited a couple of weeks ago were a vision splendid. Hectare after hectare of rainbow-filled gorgeousness. I tippy toed (well at least in my imagination, I did) up and down, row after row of floralicious delight. Indeed they were a delight to all the senses. Can you imagine a meadow (or as us Aussies say a "paddock" over-spilling with these splendid flowers??  I can! I will have to speak to my gardener to see what those miraculous green fingers of his can do!! =))

Flowers of the fabric kind have been growing on my quilt as well. Hydrangeas, Daisies, Tulips, Poppies and sweet little blossoms kissing the water's edge have as if overnight, magically begun to blossom. Did I say "overnight"?? Believe you me it has been hours and hours and many more hours of me coaxing fabric into petals and then into flowers. There doesn't seem to be much progress does there?? I do believe this flower quilt is going to take season after season to blossom in all it's beauty! At least the bottom corner of my flower garden is finished! All the finer details of each flower and leaf will be embroidered  or quilted later on.

Each flower not thinking of competing with the flower next to it. Each flower blooms......and beautifully so. Though, in saying this me thinks the Iris might think it's the star!

Thank you so much for visiting my little place. Indeed each and everyone of you makes me want to dance on my tippy toes through my garden! Why, I think I just might! =) So, so sorry for a gazillion happy snaps of all the pretty flowers, but somehow I didn't think you would mind.....at least, I hope you don't.

I am off to enjoy a little slow Sunday stitching this sunny Sunday afternoon.......by the pond, me thinks. Have a most beautiful day♥

Until the next time......

  1. Your applique is coming along gorgeously ( is that a word?) :) It is as beautiful as the lovely flowers in your garden - and your pond is the icing on the cake. We have a large tulip farm here too - although now is not the season here. But I do love to visit there in the Spring. Thank you so much Kim, for you very kind comments on my blog - I am happy you like what I have done with my small furniture pieces...I would love to load one of them into your van...haha...hope all is well ♥

  8. Your garden is stunning - how could I ever tire of seeing pictures of it! And such a beautiful time of the year for you, we are well into autumn and have a completely different colour palette so it is lovely to see your bright fresh greens. I could never live anywhere without seasons as I love the change of each one. The tulip fields are stunning - my parents have been to see the tulip fields in Holland but I have only ever seen photographs. Your quilt is looking wonderful - such a lot of work in applique so it is never going to be a quick project but I shall so enjoy following your progress. Have a great week. xx

I am loving our Spring weather and all the pretty flowers. Thank you for visiting my flower garden, lovely Margie. Have a beautiful week....and try to keep warm. Kim Xx

  13. Having just put my garden to bed here in the No hemisphere, yours is a feast for my eyes - so beautiful! I love irises, and spent time dividing mine this past spring in hopes of spreading the beauty next spring.
Your quilting is a vision of patience and sheer beauty.
I met you and your blog through Jann Olson, and look forward to delighting myself with visits here, especially as we go deeper into the winter months. Thank you the inspiration!

  15. Your garden blossoms are a feast for the eyes, Kim, and the blooms on your quilt are coming along beautifully, too! The photos of the tulip farm are amazing!! I can’t imagine being able to walk amongst all of that color!! I thought about you as I wrote my Fall post yesterday and wondered about your colorful world. You are quite the lucky lady to stitch in such an awesome setting today. Have a wonderful week, dear friend! Zenda

  16. Wow...before I forget to ask, what are the pink flowers in the third picture? I just love them! Your garden is so lovely and packed full of wonderfulness. Do you have a place along the pond where you can sit and watch the fish. We do that a lot by my pond. Terry is watching fish and I am trying hard to spot my frogs and on the look out for snakes.

Your appliqued flowers are perfection. You have a lot of inspiration for it in your garden.

  17. I enjoyed this walk on my tippie toes through your blog post. It was a floralicious delight indeed! As our trees turn various shades of colors heading to brown and bare, it is a great treat to see that elsewhere in the world, people are getting to enjoy spring. Thanks for letting me enjoy it with you! Your quilt is incredible! It really captures the garden photos you have shown.

  18. I'm dropping in from Kathy Quilts Slow Stitching Sunday. What a delight to see your flowers and the tulip fields. And how nice that you have so many you can pick them and bring them inside. We are wallowing in the gloom, cold, and rain here in western NY, where even our usually glorious autumn colors are non-existent this (crazy weather) year. I love your applique project, though it is beyond my skill level.

  20. Breathtaking....love all the flowers. We are in fall here although it seems short lived. We even had snow last weekend-didn't cover the ground. Today we have high wind gusts making tree branches fall and rain. I've been busy putting the flower and veggie gardens to bed, pulling up annuals, etc. It's such a sad time to go from an abundance of colorful flowers to leafless plants and exposed garden soil. Next will be snow and freezing cold temps. I love the look of fresh fallen snow if I could just keep it off the roads, driveway and sidewalks because I dislike shoveling it. Thanks for sharing the beautiful photos.

    1. I don't envy your chilly little world at all, though the sight of snow in a winter wonderland sounds rather lovely......until it all melts and becomes soggy and slushy. =) The thing I miss most in Winter is the flowers and the warmth in the sunshine. Everything here dies down and goes to sleep. You have had snow already?? I suppose it is a sign of the weather that must come. Have a lovely week. Kim Xx

The iris have always been one of my favorite flowers and seeing them in such a natural looking setting is beautiful. Your hand stitched flowers are growing so nicely too. I'm sure it is hours and hours of stitching, but it is going to be a glorious bloom when finished.

  35. OM goodness. Glorious! Love all the pictures - the flowers are out-of-this world, Kim. With all those bouquets ready for the house, I know your home is nearly as fragrant as outside. I've seen pictures of the tulips in Holland but the ones in Tasmania are just as gorgeous. I do wonder how in the world they PLANT all those bulbs and how do they keep them going and going. I love my tulips but it seems I need to replant bulbs every once in a while. You are doing an amazing job with the 'quilt flowers'. You will do the quilt justice.

  37. Oh Kim, I did not mind at all seeing all your lovely flowers, you are blessed with a lovely garden and I would have to get out there everyday myself to enjoy all the beauty. How wonderful to be able to bring so much of it inside to enjoy as well!! When we lived in England we saw a tulip farm, it is a beautiful sight as well and looks like you enjoyed it with your family :) I will have to say your quilt is coming along just beautifully, you must be so thrilled with it so far, it is sure going to be a huge labor of Love and just think of the generations to come that will be able to enjoy it as well, beautiful flowers that won't die :) Enjoy this beautiful time of year!

  39. Your Springtime loveliness must be a joy to see, smell and touch, Kim. I would be merrily tip toeing through the rows and rows of beautiful tulips with you, if I could be there. Your quilt is looking ever so lovely with each and every hand sewn petal, and stem. It is truly a work of art, which when finished, should be hanging in an art museum!! Your are so gifted and talented, and how wonderful that you use those gifts from Our Lord, to create such masterpieces.
