The thing about life is it just keeps getting in the way of this blogging caper. How dare it!! 'Tis been a little while since I last waxed lyrical (to the point of boring you all to death) about my hexies. Life these past weeks has continuously interrupted me; in monotonously keeping you up to speed on all my hexie goodness.
There has been some progress but I fear my scrappy hexagon quilt is not going to be lounging languidly on my sofa anytime soon. Alas no....though I have been whirring away on my 'new' little Bernina, whipping up framed hexies, I have only completed six rows of my quilt. As most of this quilt is hand stitched it will be a while yet till my hexie quilt is seen in all it's finished glory state.
Six rows of colourful, scrappy hexie yumminess.
So there you have it....short and sweet!! Is that a sigh of relief I hear percolating from your lips?? Who would've thought that I could possibly have written a 'short' post......wonders will never cease!!
So toodlepips for now. I must dive back into this thing they call life, hoping there will be moments of hexie loveliness sprinkled throughout. Hope you are all enjoying a lovely week.
Oh How truly very much I love your hexi's!!! I've never seen them made this way and found myself reading this and your previous post closely!!! I love the pictures of them combined with your sewing machine too!!!
ReplyDeletePS: I hate when life gets in the way of me being in my sewing room too!!!
ReplyDeleteHello there Kim, Your hexie quilt is looking soooo beautiful :-) It makes my heart swoon !!! I love all the combination of colours too ... I have yet to try this method myself. Life keeps getting in the way of me sewing AND blogging also. I think I am getting the shakes from my withdrawal symptoms!!!!
ReplyDeleteHello Kim! Oh, what a charming blog you have here and I will most certainly be stopping by again very shortly!
ReplyDeleteYou were such a dear to visit mine and leave me a sweet comment -- thank you:)
I simply love quilting...*happy sigh*... Is there anything more blissful than piecing together blocks (or hexis in your case!) And seeing the formation of a lovely picture...?
Your quilt is going to be gorgeous and I love the colours and patterns of your fabric! Enjoy, dear Kim!
Hugs and love,
Kelly-Anne

How delicious! This is going to be so scrumptious when done. The truth is, life does get in the way, but we can take our hexies with us anywhere life happens to take us : )
ReplyDeleteHope all is well. My father in law is not well, so we are dealing with that. Blessings on you
I adore those hexies more every time I see them. By the time I see the final quilt, I will probably swoon in esctasy! It certainly looks time consuming though. A real labour of love.

DeleteLove, love, love this quilt, as it is shaping up. I used to love hand sewing. Now I must rely on my machine most of the time. I DO understand about life getting in the way! It has for me too. Two weeks now with no blog from me!
ReplyDeleteWoW!!! gorgeous colors!!!!! i hate when life gets in the way of fun!!!!
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean, work is constantly getting in the way of my fun time.
ReplyDeleteYou're off to such a great start. I never tire of seeing your work. Is your construction your own technique? I've never seen a quilt made like this. I'm also long winded on my blog - probably why I look forward to reading yours!
ReplyDeleteI happened upon this technique of 'quilt-as-you-go framed hexagons about 10 years ago, Colleen, though I haven't seen the idea of covering the back seams with fabric/ribbon before. Here's to long-winded bloggers such as you and I....may we never be silent. ;)
DeleteOh my...what a gorgeous quilt! I just love those hexies! Beautiful colors of the season!
ReplyDeleteLove your pretty hexies, going to keep my eye on them... Make me feel guilty about my abandoned mini hexies.
ReplyDeleteAh ... this quilt says "Fun!" all over it!! You are the best for sharing all of these little hexies with us, and the quilt is going to be a masterpiece when finished! You are an inspiration every visit Kim! Enjoy your week :)
ReplyDeleteWendy
Your hexies are beautiful...love how they are coming together. Hope you get lots more hexie time soon.
ReplyDeleteOh Kim, your hexies are just luscious! You really do create works of art. I love that so much of it is done by hand. I am working on a hexie quilt and I am on row 6 as well. Mine doesn't hold a candle to yours, but I will still love it. I am using a half hexie ruler and there is a seam down the middle of each one. The only thing done by hand is the cutting of the hexies. lol! Can't wait to see your amazing quilt!
ReplyDeletehugs,
Jann
I could sit and stare at those colours for ages!
ReplyDeleteSo annoying when 'life' gets in the way of blogging and sewing! But your beautiful hexies are multiplying and you're well on the way to another gorgeous quilt. I must try making some of these hexies soon :)
ReplyDeleteLovely hexies! Such beautiful colors :)
