Hello, and welcome, lovely lovelies, lovely friends, to my little autumnal place♡ How are you on this lovely Sunday?? As for me and Carmen?? Well, we are just fine....thanks for asking. =) Unfortunately, her flowery hat will soon be no more. The last of the dahlias and roses, me thinks. Love, love, love Carmen♡♡
A productive and fun week; that is of course, despite another dystopian-esque week that hurried by. I must say, the highlight of my week, was King Charles' III giving a masterclass in diplomacy, manners, intelligence, eloquence, sophistication, and wit, to the buffoon and his acolytes. Oh, how it tickled my funny bone that a king gave many a history lesson on democracy. Oh, the irony. And he did it with such aplomb; without starting WW3.
Now, I'll admit, I vacillate in opinion as to the whys and why nots of a monarchy but the blood of my British forebears, which pulsates through my veins, came to the fore and shouted "HEAR, HEAR"!! So many chuckles percolated from my person. There is nothing quite like the Brits and their humour. That is of course, notwithstanding the irreverent and naughty humour of us Aussies. Those Republicans in the hallowed halls of the US Congress are such an unfunny lot, are they not??!! I did wonder if the King's speech(es) went over the 'comb-over', and it appears they most certainly did. As the person with the very questionable hair-do, to whom the 'arrows' were intended; laughed along. Absolutely no idea whatsoever as to the subtlety of the King's intent. The obtuseness is stunning. Bravo! Well done, King Charles!!
But enough of politics, history lessons.........naughtiness.....comic relief; down here in my autumnal world, I have been steadily stitching little squares to one of the sides of my Trippin' Around The World quilt endeavouring to square it up. I continued stitching today. Goodness, it can take a while. Hopefully, before all the leaves have fallen from the trees and my world descends into the depths of winter, 'we' might have a very big square. Needle pricked and gnarled fingers crossed!
This week I crocheted granny squares. Yep, more squares! Another jumper in the works for winter. I live in woolly woollies throughout the winter months, and, more often than not the other seasons as well, because in Tassie the weather can be most contrary. Gotta, gotta, gotta have plentiful woolly garments to keep the chill from dem ol' bones. Besides, I'm a bit of a frog. AND after the arduous crocheting of Lenox's blanket I'm hankering after a quick and easy granny square project.
My grannies are dancing in mellow hues of blue, grey and green. I'm loving the subtlety of these colours. So, I'm hopping from my Trippin' squares, to my grannies, just to sprinkle fun into my creative days.
My Trippin' quilt has got to the stage where fabric metrage is needed. I'm thinking there might just be enough to get me to the finish line without having to purchase more fabric. Again, needle-pricked and gnarled fingers.....and everything else, crossed. I've used up fabrics which have been sitting in my stash for a long time so I'm delighted about that.
Florals, dotty dots, stripes, hexagons......a fabulous fabric with candelabras.....all dancing and playing fabulously. Love the blue candelabra print. Such fun! What's not to love about a candelabra....or two??!! I have a few. =) Gotta shine one's light brightly these days to stem the darkness!
Enjoy your Sunday, lovely lovelies, lovely friends♡ Delight in something that brings you joy♡
Until the next time......

Oh! Such a pretty quilt!
ReplyDeletewe watched the King's speech at Congress and at the dinner and so enjoyed both. I'm not sure if it all went right over their heads or not but yes the King was giving all of them a lesson and I don't know if they understood any of it was aimed at them, I thought he has quite a quite sense of humor and put out so easily without one curse word or putting someone down. Just a good sense of humor and I'm sure hoping that a lesson was taught somewhere at least to several. I do wonder what you all think of his wife? I have mixed feelings on her She stays with him for money obviously but is there any other reason? I was so glad to see the king took a side trip to one of the National Parks - I know he so must have enjoyed that and I bet the park rangers were delighted to show him the scenery and the eagles. I don't think our president has been to any of the parks and has been cutting funding and upping entrance fees constantly - he doesn't understand what National Parks are for as I doubt very much he cares.
ReplyDeleteThe vase with the face is so interesting with that "hat of flowers"
I agree with you on the King's speech. As for the wife, I think $$ and lifestyle are the factors for staying. I have always loved that King Charles has always been a nature and wildlife champion.
DeleteUnfortunately King Charles' speech was either ignored or went over the head of those who need to heed it. I have to see how you make those granny squares into a jumper. I love making granny squares and could surely use a new sweater. I like the colors you are using. Your trip around the world quilt is gorgeous. What a wonderful way to use fabrics that you have had for a long time.
ReplyDeleteI just love your Trip Around the World quilt top, Kim! All that pretty color just makes me smile. Will you applique it to a border in order to square up the sides? Those granny squares look like they will make a nice warm jumper for you, too. I enjoyed seeing King Charles here - there are still well-spoken statesmen in the world! I do wonder what Charles and Camilla said about their trip in private, lol!
ReplyDeleteI love Carmen. The quilt is coming along beautifully. And it's always good to read an outsider's take on our current politics (as embarrassing as it is that he was elected in the first place).
ReplyDeleteWell your post made me smile no end! Totally agree King Charles addressed lots of issues with humour and definitely with style. Love your TAW flimsy. Sarah quilting by the sea.
ReplyDeleteSarah, do doubt you were smiling from ear to ear as you listened to the King's speeches. I must say it added a bit of levity to the dark political world we are all navigating. As for my TATW pretty, I'm enjoying stitching this pretty. As you Brits would say...."Keep Calm and Carry On". Or perhaps even better....'Stitch On'. Have a lovely week. Thank you for visiting. Kim Xx
DeleteYour afghan looks amazing, Kim! And I love the colorful Trippin quilt.
ReplyDeleteTrabajas mucho con el ganchillo y la aguja ésta semana y te has reído mucho con la realeza y compañía.......... ¡¡el humor inglés!!
ReplyDeleteBESICOS.
Gotta love the humour of the English, Pili. =) Those speeches were a tour de force in subtlety. It's tragic that most of those present didn't quite get it. Oh well....thankful for a moment of levity in a dark world. Hope you enjoy a lovely week creating. Thank you for visiting. Kim Xx
DeleteKim, your photos are beautiful! I absolutely love your taste in colours and design!
ReplyDeleteI also love your blog header and background!
Thank you so much, lovely Linda. Thank you for stopping by. Kim Xx
Deletethe unmistakable clue that it all went past Thing One's comprehension was when he shook his head over the standing ovation from the Democratic side of the House (saying something about them never applauding or standing up for him) for supporting Ukraine and democracy ... he's a moron.
ReplyDeletethere won't be beautiful flowers in abundance here this summer - we're in an "exceptional drought", so i'll come back here to visit yours and Carmen's cuz they'll last forever...
Hi Kim
ReplyDeleteYes the King did a great job. Would love to know what his thoughts were.
Look forward to seeing your winter woolies. Thankfully it’s spring so hopefully won’t need jumpers yet.
Best wishes for a great week Kay cxx
Kay, I think we can have a pretty good idea what the King thinks; diplomatic as he is. =) Definitely no winter woollies for you. I hope you are enjoying your springtime. Thank you for visiting. Have a great week. Kim Xx
DeleteLovely progress this week Kim, your quilt top is beautiful and your new cardi is going to be lovely too. Trying to put the whole debarcle out of my mind now. xx
ReplyDeleteThe King have maners that Mr. Buffoon and his acolytes (love the name you gave Kim ) haven't. Diplomacy is the word...and british humor of course ;)
ReplyDeleteLovely flowers and quilt ! So colorful...so bright !!!!
I'm not a fan of grey but your crochet squares are lovely...
Have a shinny week ! We have rain here for the week...
Hug
Anna
Wow your quilt is looking lovely, although I will have to say you took my breath away when i saw lit candles on it, you are braver then I am, I just know I would have tripped and set a fire :( Pretty colors you chose for your crocheted blanket also. So nice to be able to use up our old fabrics and papers when creating :) have a wonderful week!
ReplyDeletePretty, pretty quilt. What a handsome quilt, I think.
ReplyDeletelm
The fussy cut row of Trippin' adds so much! Great job with your fabric choices on that quilt. May I ask what fabric line it is?
ReplyDeleteYou are so talented at the way you stage things for photos.
Love the Granny Square colors too!
Oh my goodness that Carmen vase is just stunning Kim, especially with her flowery hat. How adorable & very You. Your granny blanket is lovely colours too & that quilt is just so beautiful - it is wonderful to pop over & see all your pretties again Kim. xx
ReplyDeleteThis feels so warm, cheerful, and full of personality — like being welcomed into a cozy little autumn world by a dear friend. The affection you have for Carmen absolutely shines through, and the “flowery hat” image is just adorable. There’s also something beautifully bittersweet about saying goodbye to the last dahlias and roses of the season. Your writing has such a gentle charm that makes people instantly feel at home.
ReplyDeleteYour quilt and the autumn chestnut is simply stunning... what wonderful colors! I love it... the autumn leaves... your quilt... the radiance of the light.
ReplyDeleteWell, we had a few days of rain and gray skies, but today the sun is back and shining in all its glory on the spring fields... the rapeseed is glowing its yellow out into the world, and the lilac bushes are laughing along with it – just like me. Today is Mother's Day – we're taking a trip to the countryside... wonderful, I'm so happy!
Warmest regards, Viola
Thank you for your lovely photos, have fun crocheting in green, blue, and gray.
