Father Time Marches On♡

Hello lovely lovelies; lovely friends♡ Father Time has marched on to the month of March......and with  it, the season of Autumn. Is it my imagination but Father Time seems to move with a quickened step these days?? My weeks seem to pass by in a blink of an eye.

Daylight hours are shorter and there's a change in the light; a softer glow. And of course, the garden is telling me that there's a whiff of a new season to happen upon the scene. Summer has gone. Actually it never really showed up. A handful of hot days, but really, not much to write home to mother about.

This summer the flower season has not been a long one. Oh, there's been a profusion of flowers; just shorter than their usual cycle. I've noticed the hydrangeas particularly haven't shown off their coloured blooms for as long. They are already beginning to morph into their autumnal hues. The sweet pea vines are spent and have begun to shrivel into a brown and dry mess, and are now forming seeds where they will fall wherever they will, in readiness for the flowers that will sprout yet again next spring.  I must say the sweet peas were a vision splendid this year.

The dahlias are flowering. The cosmos, too.  But again, both took a long while to do so. I'm sure there will be early frosts so that will be the end of these blooms. The roses are past their best with just a few to pick each morning. It's just not been hot enough for them to flower vigorously.   Such are the seasons of life........and climate.

Now about those sweet critters I've been crocheting. This week they seem to have walked, sauntered, padded, hopped, crawled, ran, flew, crept.......swam onto the squares. Sixteen animals are smiling happily atop the squares. Three more animals have joined the zoo; a baaing sheep, a meowing cat and swimming fish. There are two more animals to crochet and then I can start crocheting the blanket together; that is after the remaining green grannies are finished. Ten green ones to go. Will the crocheting of granny squares ever end??!! =) Hopefully, by the end of this coming week. YES! That light at the end of the tunnel, where the din of animals can be heard, is glowing a little brighter.

I will continue to crochet the grannies this evening while watching TV....a 'Vera' rerun, perhaps. That is of course, the TV powers that be, don't usurp and commandeer every channel and feel the need to inform me of a minute by minute report of the diabolical madman's latest extraordinary and maleficent diversion!!

And on that note I'm going to disappear. =) But only for a week or so. I will return......but then..........who really knows. =) Bye lovely lovelies; lovely friends. Try to have a lovely day. Some meditative slow stitching...knitting...crocheting... perhaps?? Some tea?? Some cake?? Or maybe a little book readin'. Whatever it is that distracts you from the madding crowd, enjoy; and please, take care♡♡

Until the next time......

  2. Oh, my goodness, what an adorable menagerie! Cute, cute, cute! And your flowers...I can only dream of such beautiful blooms. Yes, the climate change is real. We are just coming into spring here in the Pacific Northwest after not a bit of snow all winter. I've had daffodils blooming in February! Meanwhile on the other side of the country, my in-laws are shoveling out 3 feet of snow from their driveways in New England.
As far as the chaos politically, it is the stuff of nightmares and anxiety 24/7, so I appreciate your advice on a little distraction. Right now, it is all of the above.
Enjoy your slide into autumn - my favorite time of year.
    Hugs, Karen

    1. It must be a wonderful thing to see daffodils in February, in your little corner of the world, dear Karen. I imagine your beautiful home and garden is a welcome haven as the chaos becomes worse with each new day....week. The stuff of nightmares indeed! Thankyou, I will enjoy autumn, but just between you and me I'd prefer the season to be knocking at my front door be spring. =) Take care, lovely Karen, as this world of ours rages on. Kim Xx

  6. Your flower season may not have been so good but you have certainly made good use of all the beautiful flowers in your pictures. February has gone in a flash as far as I am concerned. So March is here and those March windds are already forecast for this afternoon. I wish they would blow that horrid man completely away!
The zoo is looking amazing and I look forward to seeing a picture of the finiah, in the meantime enjoy your break away. xx

  8. Dear Kim, I can concur the world has turned faster, as do time. In our woods of the world winter has been brutal and we are so ready for spring. The birds have returned and hearing them chirp and sing to their heart’s content is a beautiful blessing. Spring like fabrics in soft rainbow colours are emerging and stitching and quilting is calling me to pick up projects to work on. Seed packets and the garden is calling asking me to start planning and planting seeds indoors. The only downside, no potting soil? So much so that it is now on my shopping list to get. By the tide our last frost date is up, end of May my seedlings should be ready for planting in the garden? Love all the animals you are creating and making into a beautiful blanket, until next week.

As far as current events go, I'm not sure starting a war in the Middle East is any way to win the Nobel Peace Prize.

  22. all God's creatures gotta place in the choir - some sing low and some sing higher - some sing out loud on the telephone wire and some just clap their hands or paws or anything they got now ... haven't listened to Celtic Thunder in too long a time, i think i'll go put on the cd...

  27. I think maybe all those animals had a blast frolicking through Pete's garden before they settle down to spreading love to a sweet little boy.
I'm sorry your summer season was somewhat of a no-show. We're still struggling with a winter that's refusing to leave. Spring teased us a couple weeks ago with two or three days of (gasp) double-digit temps and then it was right back into the freeze. Soon, please let it be soon....
