Hello lovely lovelies, lovely friends♡ A lovely Sunday morning, welcome to my little place♡ Goodness me, how can it be Sunday again?? Another week has sped by. Another week with me working on my fusion squares. All the blanket stitching by hand is done and every square has crochet skipping around the edges. All the squares are finished! Yippee Yi Yay!
One side, gorgeous Tilda, vintage inspired pastel fabrics♡
And the other side of my pretties, floralicious florals in every shade under the sun.
I fashioned thirty six 9" squares and will make the quilt by assembling six rows of six squares. A lovely square, queen size, bed topper or indeed a comfy lap quilt.
And so, the crocheting of each pretty square to the other, begins. Now, to play a bit and decide upon which method joining the squares is pleasing to my eye. I'm thinking the 'join as you go' method which I always use when joining granny squares, might work. A couple of weeks ago I was playing with wool and hook and came up with something rather spiffy when joining these squares, but do you think I can remember?? Of course not! Sometimes my muddly mind is a worry. So, it looks like 'JAYG' it is. It looks like my sunny Sunday is sorted.
May you enjoy many delightful moments doing something you love when Sunday comes a-knocking on your door♡ As for me, down here at the bottom of the world, I'm going to enjoy my sunny Sunday happily crocheting pretty squares one to the other. Punctuated of course, with many a cup of tea poured from my teapot being warmed under a woolly, pansy tea cosy♡ You, are most welcome too, to share a cuppa or two with me♡ Especially those, whose felonious leader rolled out the red carpet for a war criminal.......and you're feeling fatigued. Goodness...what next??!! We'd have so much to chat and commiserate about. You must be weary with it all. Though, perhaps we might need something a little stronger than tea. =) Have a lovely day, lovely lovelies♡♡
Until the next time............
Those squares look so pretty hanging there Kim, are you using cotton as the crochet edging around the squares and will you put a crochet edging around the whole quilt I wonder🤔 enjoy joining them together, will you join then randomly or will there be some kind of order, so many questions! I would love to sit and have a cup of tea while having a good old natter crochet hook in hand. I'm making granny squares and must also decide how to join them together, I think I will be joining as I go too. Have a lovely Sunday. 😊
ReplyDeleteHi lovely Linda, I'm using a 3ply pure wool for the crochet edgings and yes, I'd love to crochet an edging around the whole quilt. I've been looking at some YouTube tutorials as to edgings but must admit they all seem 'as clear as mud' to me. =) I guess it will be a case of playing and experimenting. Do you have any thoughts for a novice crocheter such as me?? Wish I could sit in your conservatory and pick your crochet imagination and skill. And yes......a natter and many a cup of tea, as well. As for joining them together I've laid the squares out and played with them setting them in a visually pleasing way. Some consideration is needed too, as to the fabrics on the back as well. Not all the fabrics play nicely together. =) I'd love to see your granny squares. I imagine they are gorgeous. I love joining 'grannies' as you go. It's quick and pleasing to the eye. Enjoy crocheting your granny squares. Thank you so much for your sweet visit. Kim Xx

Have a lovely week Kim !

This is a really interesting way to make a quilt! I like that it’s two sided and “multi-media”. I showed it to my daughter and we are considering a project together. I will do the sewing and she would do the crocheting. We will see. Enjoy your tea and crochet this week. Glad to hear spring is starting to make an appearance. Gail at the cozy quilter
ReplyDeleteYour lovely photos bring me such joy! Yes, many of us are weary of it all! I listen to much less news than I used to. I’m less formed, but also less stressed.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Sarah for your lovely words. I'm delighted my happy snaps have sprinkled some joy into your day. Some days we need all the joy we can find, don't we?? You're probably right not to listen to the news these days. As you say it makes for a less stressful life. I hope you enjoy a lovely week. Thank you for your sweet visit. You, have sprinkled joy into my day. Kim Xx
DeleteMy gosh but these blocks are lovely all ready to be joined into what will be a beautiful blanket...;)))Your fabric choices for both sides are so pretty... perfect for the crocheted edges, Kim. ;))) Nice work on all of these!!:0))
ReplyDeleteI hope you are enjoying your soon to be Springtime down there--we are soon to be in my favorite season--Autumn...and enjoying the last throes of Summertime.
hugs, Julierose
I love seeing all those pretty squares clipped next to each other. I look forward to seeing them connected. Yes, it is very wearying to see the constant lawlessness of this disgraceful US regime. It is heartening to know that people in other countries share our despair.
ReplyDeleteGoodness it looks like you have been very busy. Im looking forward to seeing these squares joined!
ReplyDeleteWhat a delightful quilt and a unique method of construction. I'm not sure why I haven't commented on the last two posts. Even though you are still waiting for spring to arrive, your home always looks cozy and spring-like in any season. Yes, we are very weary of the destruction going on and feel helpless to do anything about it. Trying to read less news and do little kindnesses wherever possible.

Oh yes, I am so tired of all "that," Kim. I just want him to go away. 🙄 Meanwhile, your beautiful florals just make me smile. So pretty! Thank you for this moment of Zen.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous and charming fabrics at your sunny corner of world... Best wishes dear friend!
ReplyDeleteMy little corner is a sunny place dancing in gorgeous fabrics and flowers, Maristella; though, as I look out my window the early morning sun is dancing and shimmering on the icy grass. Just a bit chilly. Have a lovely week, lovely Maristella. Thank you for your beautiful visit. Kim Xx
DeleteCuánta alegría da ver tus coloridas fotos, me encantan y ésos cuadrados prometen maravillas. BESICOS.
ReplyDeleteThe blocks are all just beautiful, and no matter how you decide to bring them together I am sure it will be wonderful! Seeing them hung up like that makes me think of Hot pads, they would make lovely ones of them too!
ReplyDeleteThat is going to be a stunning quilt!
ReplyDeletecan you imagine being ordered to get down on your hands and knees, while in uniform, to roll out a red carpet for a mass murderer? and have to stand at attention while your commander in chief claps like a happy toddler who's been shown his birthday cake when said murderer/war criminal heads toward him? and watch as they gather in The Beast for a joy ride? so humiliating and sickening ... distressing and disturbing...
ReplyDeleteyour blocks are a soothing, calming distraction - thank you.
Once upon a time, Dianne, not too long ago, I could not for the life of me imagine something so despicable occurring but now...............! Let us count the ways that what happened last Friday was in so many ways disturbing, sinister, startling......! Alas, I cannot as they are innumerable. I will do my darndest here at my little place, to keep on trying to sooth, calm and distract, from the daily horrors that are happening there. Kim Xx
DeleteHi Kim
ReplyDeleteYou have certainly been busy. Your quilt looks wonderful so bright and cheerful.
Have a great week.
Best wishes Kay cxx
Lovely Kay, I have been busy finishing my bright and cheerful squares. I'm loving this Fusion quilt. You have a great week, too, enjoying those summer days. Kim Xx
DeleteSuch a beautiful post with an immensely pretty project. You’ve inspired me with a project for my Tilda fabrics! I have a queen-sized bed, so I also thank you for sharing your measurements. 😊
ReplyDeleteSuch pretty blocks, and I'm sure you will have them all joined together before we know.
ReplyDeleteThis is so pretty.

Absolutely stunning! I love all the gorgeous colours and patterns!
ReplyDeleteThey are so gorgeous! Looking forward to next week and seeing them put together. xx
ReplyDeleteYour crocheted squares are lovely, and I love your "design wall" ;) The ric rac is as cute as the squares, and your room looks cozy and welcoming. I'm sipping a cup of tea while reading your post, and I'm happy to share one with you! Thank you so much for sharing and linking up, your posts are always a ray of sunshine, even in winter! Hugs
ReplyDeleteyou have been so busy with your colorful blocks!! I have been busy with hand work while I recover from the surgery
ReplyDeleteOf course, I noticed the Christmas/Thanksgiving/Easter(?) cactus in all it's rosy color. My, of my, I've never seen one in that color. All the ones I've had are a hearty green with different colored blooms. What kind is it? Did you think it in that color (pink) or did you feed it something special? Loved the Fusion quilt and whatever you decide for the joining will be exactly right! I am a bit dismayed that you can't remember 'the other' joining you came up with. It is wonderful to see how marvelous the squares came out. I am on the last block of my paper-pieced pineapple quilt. Not quite sure about the last cutting around the block. I know I will need to remove the paper but not sure exactly when...the blocks may need to marinate for a bit while I decide. :)
