Lazing on a Sunday Afternoon♡

Hello lovely lovelies♡ So, here we are again, you and I, at my summery place♡ It is a delight to have you swing by; it truly is♡ Another warm and sunny day♡ Just lazing on a Sunday afternoon♡  I must say, I am loving all the warm and sunny days that have been rolling in day after day, week after week, month after month. I cannot remember a summer quite like this one. Not that I am complaining, mind you. As a gal who needs the sun's warming beams to give life to dem ol' bones of mine, I am soaking up all those glorious, sunshiny, darts of happiness. And....of course, sitting here in my fernery, 'tis a double dose of happiness as there are happy pots of flowery joy smiling at me; and of course in the garden beyond. Oh, and there are bovine (the four-legged kind...just to differentiate from the two-legged kind that one sometimes happens upon in this far rural outpost) munching away on grass in the paddock. As yet, I have not seen any of the two-legged kind munch away on grass in the paddock next door....but stranger things have been known to have happened. I have a love/hate relationship with the cows. The sweet, big brown-eyed beasts come a little too close to our fence and eat all my apple trees...and every other tree! Don't mess with me and my trees....nor my flowers!! =D  It seems the cows like to relax and drink in the beauty of the flowers, too. Anyway..............

Let's talk about all things hand stitching, shall we; because after all that is why you have come a-visiting.....isn't it?? Or is it to have a look at the flowers.....the hydrangeas?? Whichever it is, I have been quilting my Hydrangea Cobblestones this week. Lots of skipping along the lines, up and down; down and up, whistling.....zip-a-dee-doo-dah, zip-a-dee-ay.....♫♫♪♪♬♩. So much skipping (and whistling) that the centre panel of cobblestones is finished! How fabulous! Can you get an inkling that I am a happy gal?? Diagonal quilting lines, all following one after the other. Well.....sort of. The quilting isn't as defined on the front because of the busyness of the hydrangea fabric. One gets a better sense of the diagonal quilting on the back. Oh, and about the back, I must say it ain't too bad at all. =) Now, don't look too closely. Put that magnifying glass away!! =D

What's next?? Why, I am thinking some more quilting this evening whilst watching Vera; happily joining in with the other slow hand stitchers from all around the globe. Quilting around the centre panel, then starting the meandering, quilting stitches  of the butterflies fluttering around the border. I have a feeling this part is going to take a while.

Why, my calender reminds me that all around the world Valentine's Day is nigh. The day that comes but once a year, when sweet-faced cherubs with swathes of gossamer-like fabrics covering their modesty, appear with their chubby little arms laden with flowers and chocolates, gifting them to those whom believe. May a sweet little cherub find his or her way to you at your lovely place, this Valentine's Day♡ Sending you all a little beauty and LOVE this blue sky, sunshine-filled kinda day♡

Until the next time.....................

Linking up this week to Kathy's Slow Sunday Stitching, Judy's Design Wall Monday and Frédérique's Quilting, Patchwork and Applique.

  2. Your quilt looks like a field of hydrangeas, so pretty. You can leave the flowers to the cows, you have yours close to you forever ;)) Well done with the quilting, and have fun with the border!
Thank you for sharing your sunny place, and linking up today! Happy Valentine day ;)

  5. Your quilt looks so lovely, bright and happy! Simple quilting is best on a busy quilt. Hope the cattle stay in their pasture and not in your apple orchard, happy stitching!

  6. I can't believe that you have done all that quilting already, it looks amazing. What fabulous views you have, how nice to see cows at the bottom of your garden but I'm afraid I would be very cross if they ate my flowers and trees. Enjoy your Sunday stitching and by the way Vera is set in my area, my little town and the surrounding area often appears in some of the programs. You can see how dark and dreary it can be, we need some of your Sunshine. xx

    1. Those cute and funny cows are a pain, Alina. =) We have been trying to grow our trees to a certain height for years with no success. It seems our trees are more delicious than the grass. Hoping you and your husband have a happy Valentine's Day in BA, soaking up all that sunshine and blue, blue sky and ocean. Kim Xx

  9. Oh I love your quilt and quilting--that peek at the appliqued border is intriguing...really sets off that beautiful center...such lovely fabrics....

Oh, I love to watch Vera too--here in USA we are awaiting the next series...
I have reached the "foot" part of my socks --so almost done....
Happy Valentine's Day to you and yours, we awakened to a snowy day today--so pretty coating all our cedar trees...enjoy your Summery days...

  10. All I can say is that you quilt very quickly and it is looking beautiful. Thanks for all of the cow photos. They look great from afar, but I am not sure I would like them coming so close to me. Enjoy your summery sunshine. It is snowing here.

  11. Hey Kim... I really enjoyed visiting your warm and flowery blog post today! It is hard to tell where your gorgeous quilt stops and the hydrangeas begin... your stitching is excellent and your green thumb so to speak is on fire!
Have a happy Valentine's my sweet friend :) Kathi

  12. Those cows must produce the best milk and cream, the happiest too! Your hydrangeas looks so beautiful blooming in your garden, the quilt just fits into the landscape so naturally that one could mistake it for a blooming ush in the garden. Enjoy the sunshine we are not quite done with the deep freeze up north yet. Have a merry and fun day in the garden.

  13. Such a beautiful quilt! You've been moving along with the quilting. Wishing you more sunny days. It's still winter here, I'm hoping spring isn't too far off. Enjoy your slow stitching. Happy Valentines Day.

  15. The backing is so gorgeous that it could have been its own quilt. Of course the cows want to see all the beauty in your homestead. Your quilting is beautiful and amazingly fast. Happy Valentine's Day!

  16. Such a beautiful quilt! I have to say I do not envy you living next to cows. Their eyes are ever so sweet but they are a smelly bunch! Have a great week!

  17. You know, maybe the cows are coming because they want to see your quilt! Your quilting is ever so lovely and it is hard to see which is the quilt and which is the hydrangeas as they blend in so perfectly. Happy Valentine's to the two of you!

  18. Look at all the cows! My FIL was a beef farmer, and I have lots of cow memories. Nice to look at, not so nice to smell! One time my MIL was bowled over by cows she was helping my FIL move. That was the last time she got to help him!

You have a great sense of color. I wonder if living among all the flowers has helped you with that.

  19. Love seeing the progress on this beautiful hydrangea quilt. Love seeing your beautiful flowers too! Wish I had your beauty to look on every day. My brother when he was little, and we used to visit this friend of my parents in the country was terrified of the cows! We have been warmer, in the 70's the past week, and I was able to get quite a few of the pesky weeds pulled. Have one bed to go! Happy Valentine's Day to you and Pete!

  20. Ah...the fernery...a lovely place for a lazy summer Sunday afternoon. I can almost get a whiff of the flowers and pots. Such a wonderful place to stitch away on the hydrangea quilt. Perhaps the bovine want a peak also. Hopefully, you are in receipt of their dairy byproducts. Do I spot zinnias? If so, they are gorgeously huge. Aqua is one of my new fav colors. Stunning on the quilt back. Happy ❤️ Day!

  21. Oh, I cannot wait for the summer to enjoy crocheting in the garden! Of course if I had this view like you, I would plant myself and get lost for hours, lol! I am amazed with the progress on your quilt Kim. Such dedication and effort is sure to show! Wishing you a lovely new week ahead!

  22. It's Valentine's Love Day there in Tassie today though it won't be the 14th for a few more hours here in the middle of USA. Thank you for the sweet wishes. My hubby usually gets a few chocolate covered strawberries for me each year. Yummy! You know me too well...I love seeing the hand-quilting you do. It's all so 'yummy', too. I do commiserate with you over the cows as I'd not be happy that they were munching on my trees either. But...perhaps those cows come close for sure because of the flowers - can you imagine how they love that fragrance that blows their way? Cows are waaaay bigger than most people realize especially if you have to usher them home when it's milking time. (I know this from when I helped my cousin 'get the cows'. :)

  24. Happy Valentines Day to both of you as well. You certainly have been extra busy this week with all your quilting, but I'm sure you are enjoying every stitch. Sunny summer weather is great, but ours has left us the last few days and instead we have had cold, wind and rain. But the sunshine and warmer temps are sure to return soon, it's only mid February after all.

  26. Hello lovely Kim, hope you have a wonderful stitching Sunday. Be careful - stitching and skipping can be dangerous :-o Enjoy that sunshine, blue skies and the bovines!

  27. Beautiful Kim ... both your quilt & those cows peering through the trees & the flowers!! I have cows in my house paddock today too ... they can't quite get close enough to eat the trees thank goodness .. but they will be seeking the shade. Enjoy your week lovely Kim xx

  28. I would love looking out beyond my garden to see cows, although I didn't know they would eat the trees! That would not be welcome! Your quilting is beautiful, and looks like you're coming along well with, too. Happy Valentine's Day, Kim! ❤

  29. I can’t blame the cows for wanting to enjoy your beautiful flowers. Your quilt is coming along beautifully too. The grid quilting is lovely.

  30. Oh dear, I hope those tree munching beasties keep to their side of the fence! Obviously they love your garden too!! Your quilting is amazing, such a pretty quilt. I enjoyed Vera last night too, not much stitching happened here though, was too hot!

  31. I can just hear in your writing how much you are enjoying those lovely warm days, as we reach closer to spring I am getting excited I must say :)
I love the way you are quilting that, it gives the feeling of rays of sunshine on it.
Oh my those cows do come pretty close to your flowers don't they, my hubby would love for us to move to the country, but I just don't see us up an leaving here, I know I would be very overwhelmed in packing everything up.
Wishing you another lovely warm week ahead!

  32. You are skipping along :-) I am just loving all those blues!
And I am drowning in beautiful garden pictures, what joy :-) The cows would make a short work of all those flowers, given half the chance ;-) We used to have them at the back of our garden - anything close to the fence wasn't safe....xx

  33. I loved seeing the cows out there behind you, Kim, but I wanted like them munching on my apples or flowers, either. Your quilt is outstanding!! Aren't you so happy with it?? It's absolutely glorious in amazing hydrangea loveliness.

  34. Looking at the hydrangeas melding into the quilt, it's easy to see where you got your inspirations. Both quilt and flowers are beautiful. And so many zinnias. But then I know how you love bouquets everywhere. Looks like the cows are as destructive there as our white-tailed deer are here. I don't have a fence to keep them out, however. You have again provided a respite from our very cold temperatures. Enjoy your sunshine and warm days.

  35. I'm not sure how you find time to quilt, with such delightful flowery beauty all around you! I always soak up the joy in your photos right along with the sunshine! I smiled at the cows in the background... I can understand your plight too. My problem is not cows, but turkeys these days, ha! They are roosting in my trees, and my yard is a sticky green mess... ugh. Anyway... your pictures are so beautiful, and fill my soul with their joy. The quilt is absolutely stunning! A seamless transfer from quilt to flowers in your world I think :)

  36. Your quilt is gorgeous Kim! I can’t believe you’ve done all that quilting in one week!
    Well done you. 😁👍
I love watching Vera too but am a little tired of seeing so many repeats. I’ve lost track of Vera and don’t even know if I’ve seen the most up to date ones! ☹️
Now you’ve inspired me ..... I must get back to my hand quilting - hope I haven’t lost the run of my thread. Oh dear, it’s been a while and it’s quite possible. 🥴
I really enjoyed seeing all your flowers and the cattle too - we have similar cattle just a road and a field away from us.
    Have a great week.
    Hugs,
    Barbara xx 😁🙋‍♀️

  37. What the life you live, dear Kim, working on your lovely stitching while enjoying delightful weather and blooms! Your quilt really is beautiful and so cheery! Again, I have to thank you for sharing your gardens with us. We’re expecting more wintry weather tomorrow but I’m hopeful this may be the last of it. I long for my gardens to wake up and look a bit like yours are now. Enjoy your week and those balmy days, dear friend! Zenda

  40. Hello darling Kim! Oh, the colors! They warm me right up! Bill had to run the big snow blower today!

  41. Kim - perhaps, your relationship with the cows is like mine with the rabbits and deer - they are adorable as long as they are not eating my garden! Lovely stitching, as always! Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

  42. Wow - that's a LOT of cows!!! Really hope you have really good fencing between your garden and them. Shudder to think of the havoc they could wreak.
And, the bestest part of this post (other than reading your sweet words, which goes without saying!) is the many wonderful shades of blue. Not that it's my favourite colour or anything of the sort.
