A Li'l Liberty Hexie Love♥

A lovely welcome  to you, lovely lovelies♥ 'Tis Sunday afternoon here. A chilly, autumnal Sunday afternoon, where all day Old Man Sun has played hide and seek with the clouds; where every now and then magical bursts of sunbeams have sprinkled warmth and happiness upon my humble abode. The day has flown by. My goodness time flies when you are having fun, doesn't it. How has your week been?? Down here the powers that be are beginning to ever-so-slowly lift  the restrictions that are in place,  and people are beginning to step their toes out of their homes and brave the world. As for me I have had the best fun playing. Playing with sweet Liberty hexies, vintage embroideries, branches adorned with autumn leaves, sweet birdies.....so, so many pretties. I have had the best of times playing 'photographer' and 'stylist', too.....well at least trying to.

The sides, top and bottom of Sweet Sunday have now been squared with triangles in readiness for the border.  For the border I added a lovely embroidered piece, which I snippety snipped from a cot flounce. I happened upon this pretty a couple of weeks ago in a quaint, little vintage store, for a proverbial song. This embroidered pretty was waiting patiently for me to take it home. It was just one of those happenstance kinda moments. There are about eight metres in total, just enough for this quilt. It is so pretty; perfect for this quilt where vintage linens sit happily alongside Liberty fabrics. I am delighted with this quilt. I am delighted with the linen embroideries of sweet ladies, flowers, pretty teacups, butterflies and sweet little birdies; all sitting ever so prettily, in the friendliest of manner, among all the sweet Liberty prints. Why, me thinks every scrumptious pretty within this quilt would look rather lovely framed within the confines of a fancy, beribboned frame. =) What sayeth you???

I am going to enjoy a little, sweet Liberty hexie stitching this Tassie, autumnal Sunday afternoon. A little stitching of dancing hexies, dosy doe-ing around the border of all that Liberty lusciousness.....perfect. Well, that is of course, if I can do the maths. For a mathematically challenged gal such as I, an impossible task, really. Oh well, perhaps I will just play, dotting a hexie here and a hexie there, and see what pattern magically reveals itself to me. Afterall, 'tis a visual gal that I am.

Sending all you lovely lovelies, a little sweet hexie love♥ May your day be sprinkled with a little beauty♥`

Until the next time..........

  1. Oh, all those beautiful, sweet and awesome fabrics, the hexies with the embroidered pieces are a feast for the eyes.
Those embroidered flowers are those of a sheet? They are so beautiful.
Our week was also nice, cycling every day in the sun, unfortunately also a lot of wind, almost always here on our piece of world close to the water and flat land, but we enjoy it.
Wish you a blessed week, love. ♥

  6. I love Liberty fabrics, the fine weave and the flowery print. I think that is the most expensive fabric to buy in Japan and the only ones I have were gifted by a friend. Not nearly the variety that you have...

  12. Oh my! You have found the perfect flounce for your border. It might as well had your name on it. So fun to find something so perfect for a bargain. As you are sew good at photographing and styling Liberty lawn fabrics, I think the Liberty store should hire you!

  13. I always enjoy your colorful posts and this one is so creative, Kim! Hanging your hexies from your autumn branches and framing favorite parts of your quilt, what fun stying you’re having. I’ll be thinking of you as you start the math portion of your project. I, too, find this part quite challenging...better to play and see how it works best. Enjoy finishing up this pretty! Zenda

  26. Lovely stuff! I've been enjoying watching this come together. We are also opening up, although far more in the throes of the virus than Australia is. So will probably stay at home a bit more...

  27. It's going to take a LOT of those frames to cover all those hexies. :) I cannot wait until this quilt is finished so that I can see it in all it's glory and I want to see exactly how you've utilized that cot flounce. You do it all so well that I'm sure it'll be 'just right'.

  28. Love your hexie tree, your photo's are always inspiring and so full of beauty, your posts always lift my heart. Have a great week. xx

  29. Hi sweet Kim! I love your colors. You always create such detailed beauty! I'm glad things are loosening up in Australia! Soon, here.
Are you going to knit this autumn? I love your knits, too! God bless you, sunny girl!

  30. A cot flounce....who knew? Well, obviously you did! Can't wait to see this full reveal. Things are starting to open up here but doesn't mean that I'm overly willing to spend too much time cavorting about amongst the masses, many of whom don't feel the ongoing need to continue to social distance lest there be a second wave. We will continue to be careful and stay away from crowds and wait and see what the next development might be.

  31. I just love your creative ways of photography, using that frame to highlight the different areas of your quilt is so neat and I love your hexie tree! such a pretty way to add color to it and your little birdies on the branches are so cute too! Glad you are keeping well, our neighboring state has opened up today, but our state has at least another week, no mention if it will be extended or not. Enjoy those beams of sunshine, we have had a lot of rain lately and I would just like to see a little sunshine.

  32. I love the way you displayed your hexies by hanging them on the autumn branches. We have been having lots of spring thunder storms and rain showers here in North Idaho. I do love a good spring thunder storm! The weather is supposed to clear up and warm up next week.

Things are opening back up here in Idaho. It's so wonderful to drive by restaurants and coffee shops and see people sitting down enjoying their meal or coffee with friends.

Thank you for sharing your beautiful hexies with us!

    Love,
    Annie

Since the beginning of April we have been having the loveliest Summer and I've been so much outside I was taken aback to see your Autumn leaves. I'm looking forward to seeing more of your hexies as and when I manage to get a gardening break :)

  35. Oh my!! I cannot get over how gorgeous your newest quilt is! Have you been collecting the vintage linens for a long time? This makes me want to run right out to the antique and vintage shops and start my own collection except they aren't open yet. You certainly have an eye for putting the linen pieces and the liberty fabrics together. Beautiful!
