Now that the lilacs are in bloom,
she has a bowl of lilacs in her room.
T.S. Eliot
It is the season for the sweet, sweet Lilacs! Those beautifully hued, intoxicating Lilacs. On sunny Spring mornings, their sweet fragrance hangs in the air, bewitching me, inducing me to cut a bunch or two, to fill many a pretty vase.
These enchanting beauties are blooming ever so prettily in our garden of the prettiest hues; a soft lilac and a deeper purple.
Isn't this canvas pretty?? I found this gorgeous 'painting' in a cheap shop, The Reject Shop, for $5!!!!! Had to, had to take it home with me as this impressionistic-like painting of overspilling Lilacs and Snowbells is so, so very me. Of course this pretty felt at home immediately, in our humble abode. =)
These panicles of much-branched inflorescence are giddily, heavenly.
Our garden at the moment, is truly a vision in purples!
Pretty embroideries always beautify everything.....even, dare I say it, a pretty Lilac or two.
Swirls and swirls of lilac hued, pretty ribbons; so very salavatingly luscious!
Aah yes, the sweet, sweet scent of Lilacs captivates me. Vases of these beauties permeate the rooms in our humble abode, both in form and scent, evoking a sense of calm, a sense of restfulness.
Have the most splendid of weekends, lovely ladies. Take time to stop and drink in the flowers, perhaps pick a few and pop them in a pretty vase and think upon blissful things.
Until the next time....................
So completely and utterly beyond jealous of you right now. It was brrrrrr here today and definitely a harbinger of things to come, much sooner than I ever would want it too. Hurry up spring!!
ReplyDeleteOh Kim! My favorite flower! They don't grow here in Florida. Your backyard looks like paradise! I can smell the fragrance from here!
ReplyDeleteLilacs are one of my favorites! It's fall here and they are just a memory so your post today made me smile. Enjoy your weekend!
ReplyDeleteAll absolutely gorgeous, Kim! My favourite colours there 😆
ReplyDeleteAn ocean of sweet memories of my childhood washes over me every time I smell lilacs! Your new acquisition has found the right spot in your room!

Anna
It's just what I needed a blast of spring as we sink into wet miserable freezing november
ReplyDeleteOh dear, so happy to brighten your miserable, freezing November, Kate. Keep warm. =) Kim Xx
DeleteThe picture really sets that bouquet off. I have tried growing lilacs here in Tokyo but either the soil or the weather are not helping and they never last more than a year or two. I see there is a dead bush in the park labeled "Lilac" too. I do miss those wonderful festoons of color.
ReplyDeleteAh, so pretty....I bet they smell delightful, Kim. No flowers here, the "colors" have left us and now things are turning brown and soon everything will be covered with snow.
ReplyDeleteHope your weekend is a lovely one, friend.
As autumn turns into winter, to see your beautiful purple lilacs cheers my heart. I can only imagine the fragrance that fills your home right now. Have a wonderful weekend xx
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness Kim, I can almost smell those heavenly liliacs! My how I miss them, as they don't grow here in Texas. Your painting ($5.00...swoon!) with your pretty teaset, along with your bouquet of lilacs makes for such a pretty picture. Enjoy all that beauty visually and with all you senses! xo
ReplyDeletetoday is "my" day here!! lilacs have been my favorite since childhood, my very favorite. your garden is GORGEOUS!!!!! and i love the painting. i also like the way you displayed it on a shelf, that makes moving it, as needed, so easy!!!!
ReplyDeletesuch a beautiful post, smiles all the way around!!!
I love lilacs. We have two in our yard. Last year they did not bloom because of the horrible temps we had. I am hoping when spring comes this year they will bloom again. Love the painting.
ReplyDeleteWe are just battening down the hatches for Winter so I so enjoyed your photos. The smell of lilac is intoxicating.
ReplyDeleteYour lilacs are beautiful in your garden and in all your displays. You seem to have a vintage embroidered cloth and a tea set to match everything that blooms! And your canvas, I'm sure, couldn't have found a spot to look more at home. We are just going out in the dark and rain to walk two miles (and probably a bit more) to our local village for the bonfire societies' parade and firework display. It is always a magnificent Occassion but I'd rather sit and drink tea with you in your pretty lilac filled boudoir! :)
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love lilacs...it is my favorite Spring flower and I live near the city here in NY that hosts the Lilac Festival every year. But alas, the lilac tree I have in my yard will not bloom! I moved it to the other side of the yard so we shall see if it cooperates in the Spring. Your pictures are stunning, as is your garden and embroidery. The new picture was made for your sweet corner. My favorite shade of purple is of course, lilac!!
ReplyDeleteOh my, oh my! Lilacs don't grow well here where I live, but we had lilacs at my childhood home! Your post brought back all those lovely blooms and lovely smells! Heavenly!!
ReplyDeleteYou, too have a sweet and dreamy weekend!
Blessings and hugs!
So lovely, this is such a pretty post, when everything here is dying, and curling up or withering away. Very pretty, thanks, Sandi
ReplyDeleteOh wow Kim your flowers are just beautiful, can't get over how many you have, the fragrance must be just wonderful!! They look fabulous in your lovely vase also and such a wonderful complement to the lovely canvas you found at such a wonderful price, they look terrific in your room also, enjoy the beauty!
ReplyDeleteSuch prettiness and cheer. It is lovely of you to share your glory of lilacs with us - here in the rainy, grey, chilly Pacific Northwest. Today was a day or errands - shopping for thanksgiving dinner - stopping for a late breakfast and planning menus - and all the while the soft, thick, drippy rain fell - bringing us up to an inch of rain overnight. It is very green in the winter in Washington state - thanks to our rain, but it is a delight to feel the warmth of your wonderful spring weather and see the lilacs - I can almost smell them. I think it is time for a cup of tea and a re-run through your blog to bring me more cheer. Thank you so much!!!! Your ribbons and flowers, quilts and prints are just too fabulous!!!!!
ReplyDeleteHi Kim! I love lilacs. They are one of my favorites! Yours are gorgeous! Thank you so much for sharing.
ReplyDeleteKim, such gorgeous blooms! I do love lilacs. The painting you found is perfect!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Kim. You have reminded me to go & check on my tiny wee lilac tree hidden in the garden. It was given to me last year so I need to check it is still surviving. Dont think it will flower for a good many years yet. I can enjoy yours instead ...a pity our computer screens arent scratch-n-sniff.
ReplyDeleteOooh such beauty in deed! I could smell the fragrance through the screen of my phone as I scrolled down through every photo. Your garden is lovely, Kim.
ReplyDeleteI was given a white angel lilac bush a few years ago and it has yet to produce any blooms.:( not sure what I'm doing wrong?
What a lovely visit this was.
Have a terrific week~~
I do believe the Lord directs you to these lovely op shops. Lucky you to find that canvas. It looks perfectly at home there. Happy stitching today!
ReplyDeleteVery sweet! And thank you for sharing a bit of spring with us who are a long time away. Anna x

ReplyDeleteSo delighted to bring a little Spring to your day, lovely Linda! Wishing you the most wonderful day. Kim Xx
DeleteWell, it'll be a little while now before we can enjoy the scent of lilacs in our yard. They are such a wonderful welcome to spring though! Your lilacs are gorgeous, and I can imagine how good they smell. I have a large lilac in a back corner (pale purple), and two of my mother's lilacs that I just couldn't leave behind when we sold her house (dark purple and white). They fill the yard with scent in the spring. Enjoy your beauties ... and that painting is perfect!
ReplyDeleteWendy
It is a good thing that we live so far apart. I would have been a permanent guest in your garden. So beautiful, Kim! your photos made me feel very peaceful. Thank you :)

DeleteYour lilacs are stunning! When tidying up on the weekend I came across a box of silk ribbons and beads and threads and immediately you can to mind.

ReplyDeleteI don't mind admitting that I am more than a bit jealous! Seeing all of your gorgeous lilac blooms, so lush! I am amazed by not only the flowers but also how you display them. You always have the perfect props for your photos, and each photo is more beautiful than the last. enjoy your blooms!

Linda
Thank you so much, Linda. I am loving the Lilacs this year though in a couple of weeks time they will be gone for the year. BUT.....that means the Hydrangeas will be the next star of the flower show. I LOVE Hydrangeas. I do seem to have a few props. When out and about they seem to jump out at me and implore me to take them home. Who am I to refuse. =) Hope you are having a splendid, Linda. Thank you for visiting my place. It is always a delight to have you visit. Kim Xx
DeleteOh my...I can almost capture the aroma through my computer screen!! Beautiful doesn't quite describe these lovely blossoms. They are a favorite of mine that bring back childhood memories... we had a few bushes and my sweet mama always kept a vase filled with them on the kitchen table as long as they were blooming. Your photos are absolutely stunning!
ReplyDeleteSuch beautiful flowers and I love the picture. How lovely to have a lilac tree in your garden xx
ReplyDeleteHello, sweet little friend of mine! My, what a delightful and dreamy post...I can almost smell the sweet fragrance of the lilacs.
ReplyDeleteYour ribbon flower took my breath away, dear Kim. You are so talented!
Love and hugs to you!
Gorgeous flowers Kim Just love lilacs and am envious of your arriving Spring. Love the pretty picture, as you say, just you and such a wonderful garden full of colour. You know, I think I can smell those lilacs from here.
ReplyDeleteThese dazzle me! Thanks for stopping by the Marmelade Gypsy -- Isn't SYC fun? I love the new bloggers I meet. And lilacs -- well, they are one of my very favorite flowers! I can tell that you must be somewhere in the Southern Hemisphere, for all the lilacs here come in June! So it is an extra special treat to see them today!
ReplyDeleteI can quite see why the painting had to go home with you. It fits perfectly in your lovely home. Your garden is paradise. Love all the lilacs. the smell is always heavenly. I lost one of my Lilacs to the winter weather this year but the other one is thriving well.
ReplyDeleteYou take such divine photos. Hugs Mrs A.
I tell you my dear, I don't know that I have ever seen lilacs adorned in any more glory than in your garden, and in your hands inside your home! Oh the heady waft of the lilacs is a favorite of mine, and I have planted lilacs in my garden, but it will be years before they produce like yours. The ribbon rose you created, simply gorgeous! Your delightful photos are a feast for the eyes! I apologize for taking so long to get over to visit you! I hope you are still enjoying the lilacs, I know they come and go oh so fast! Many hugs to you dear friend! :)
ReplyDeleteGorgeous, Kim, and I love that quote.
