Springtime Woollies♡

Hello lovely lovelies, lovely friends♡ A quick post from moi (thank the Good Lord for that, I hear you say) before I fall into bed. 'Tis late Sunday night here and I'm ready to curl up under a few quilts and drift off to the Land of Nod. Why, I do believe one of my favourite times of the day is bedtime. I love my bed. And, I love my sleep.

And what pretty makes have I been working on this week?? Well......I finished machine stitching my little 6" squares for the Christmas Fusion quilt. Yep, each fabric square is stitched together. Throughout the week I blanket stitched around some more squares and continued crocheting around the squares.

I've also started to knit a wee jumper for wee Lenox. After all Old Man Winter and his sidekick Jack Frost will be visiting his little world soon. This jumper is a jumble of lots of colours which I wouldn't ordinarily use all together. I bought lots of different wool colours for another jumper I wanted to knit. It was a colourwork jumper with a few critters as the stars. A fox, a deer, a bear, a rabbit, a hedgehog....and a penguin, if my memory serves me correctly. But, as I knitted along I didn't like what was before me. The knitting was very uneven and untidy and oh my goodness, what a horribly, tangled mess the yarns became. Oh, what a tangled mess I weaved!! As I knitted, ever-patient Pete would all too frequently untangle the yarns as I knitted but I decided enough was enough. I mean, Lenox would be a teenager before his jumper would've been finished! I don't know why it was all a bit of a chore as this wasn't the first colourwork garment I've knitted.

When I was a young slip of a girl knitting colourwork garments were my favourite to knit, but now......perhaps not. At least not one with tiny critters smiling around the jumper and a plethora of messy knitted and knotted strands of wool. So, I'm now knitting a simple, garter stitch jumper in all of the colours. Oh......but all the loose strands to be sewn in at the seams!! This jumper is a bit of an experiment, though. I'll have to wait till it's finished to see whether I'm enamoured with it or not. But I must say I'm loving the muddly mess of colours. Also, I'm loving the wrong side better. So, the wrong side is now the right side. Not that there's a 'wrong' side of garter stitch, I suppose. I like the muddier rows to the neat even rows. =)

I've been knitting throughout the day watching the roving,  black and white bovine in the paddock, and the colours of spring outside the window. Though I must say 'twas anything but spring-like today. 'Twas the perfect day for a little knitting.  Perhaps Lady Spring will make an appearance tomorrow. And with that thought, lovely lovelies, lovely friends, 'tis goodnight from my little place♡

Until the next time......

Oh No....Not Again!!

Hello lovely lovelies, lovely friends♡ I've blinked, and all of a sudden Sunday has breezed in yet  again. Gosh, I can hardly catch my breath these days, as the weeks hurtle by.

I've started another Fusion quilt. Oh no! Not again??!! Yes. Again. A Christmas themed quilt this time dancing in pastel blues, greens, pinks, peaches, mustards with touches of reds. My Christmas aesthetics these days is not of a traditional red, green and white vibe but of pastel hues.

I wanted a small Christmas quilt for the festive season. A small quilt to rest atop a sofa in the lounge room to add to the Christmas joy. But, so the quilt isn't only displayed for four weeks at Christmastime,  the back of the quilt will be blue and white fabrics to be enjoyed for the other eleven months of the year. Again, two quilts in one; always a fabulous idea, me thinks.

Fabrics with sweet prints with koalas, wombats, platypuses and echidnas all playfully wearing santa hats among the waratahs and gum leaves. Reindeers too, with shiny red noses, Christmas trees, gingerbread men, presents with pretty bows, sweet Nativity scenes...after all Jesus is the reason for the season; and peaceful doves bringing to mind thoughts of hope......peace. Now there's a novel concept......world peace.

So........lots of fabric squares........again.

Lots of machine sewing of fabric squares together.....again.

Lots of blanket stitching around the squares.....again.

Lots of crochet skipping around the squares......again.

"How calmly blue soothes and sings softly in the sky"...........

For slow stitching this chilly Sunday I'm going to enjoy a little crocheting around and around my Christmas fancies, in front of the fire. I might enjoy a little book reading, too. 'Tis the day for it. Hoping you enjoy a lovely day, lovely lovelies, lovely friends♡ May you enjoy a semblance of peace with sprinkles of joy and delight in your little corner of the world♡ A basket of flowers for thee"?? 'Tis bluebells and creamy, frilly rhododendrons, on this spring-filled day♡

Until the next time......

More Embroidery♡

Hello lovely lovelies, lovely friends♡ Another week has floated by on many a blossom-filled spring breeze, to arrive at another Sunday♡

This week I've had a pleasant time continuing the embroidery of the gorgeous fabric. Flowers and leaves embellished with chain stitch, blanket stitch, cross stitch, backstitch, french knots; stitched here and there to sprinkle a little more beauty. Not a lot of embroidery as the fabric is perfectly lovely without any embellishment. I just wanted to add a little oomph.

Now to cut the shape of the bodice and transform the embellished fabric into a blouse. Something I will do in the next little while. Because it's Sunday I will find something to work on. Perhaps some knitting?? Whatever I decide upon I'll  join the happy band of slow Sunday stitchers later this evening, where we chat about the makes we are making, or indeed, the makes we have made. Happy making, lovely lovelies, lovely friends♡ Thank you for your sweet visit to my little spring-filled place♡ Enjoy a beautiful day♡

Until the next time......
