A lovely hello to all you lovely, lovelies♥ I hope you are all well and taking care during these days of internment in your sweet homes. Here at the bottom of the world we are in lockdown mode. As the world agonises and groans from the effects of coronavirus, I am making the most of 'doing time' in my humble abode and garden. The days have been pleasantly warm and the garden continues to gift me with sweet flowers. The light is slowly changing; the soft light and hues of autumn are a delight to my eyes. The dahlias are blooming beautifully and the pretty cosmos are just doing what they always do.....splash their colourful, sunshiny smile. One can never feel sad when one gazes upon the cheery cosmos.
This week I have been enjoying the garden, playing florists and stylists.....again, and whiling away my days taking happy snaps. Oh, and there has been the pleasure of stitching sweet hexies, too. A few more sweet Liberty hexies have been added to the quilt. Sitting in my pretty sewing room, stitching these pretty hexies does indeed feed my soul. Yes, these sweet days at home are a shelter in the time of storm. There is no venturing out in the world, except for a drive here and there (staying in the car of course) or facing the grocery store, which I must say has been quite civil and orderly. Here in this small community we have escaped the frenzied shoppers climbing over each other to get that last toilet roll. Indeed we have escaped visits to the hospital where concussion caused from over zealous shoppers, is treated. Everyone here is behaving like proper grown ups.
I feel thankful for my home on this little island, in this small rural community; far, far from the madding crowd. Having lived in the city for fifty years of my life and since moving to Tassie, I must confess I do not miss the cacophonous jungle of Sydney at all. There is not a day goes by where I do not feel thankfulness for my little home, the beautiful garden that my good husband dreamed into being, and for the pastoral surroundings that hug me every day. It is peaceful here. It is beautiful here. Living in this little place I am able to block out the frenzied noise of the outside world. Here in this tranquil place, I can just......breathe.
I continually think of those whose livelihoods have been lost, whose lives have been turned upside down; so, so sad. It is sad to think that grandchildren cannot visit their grandparents.....indeed unable to hug one another and spend precious moments in each other's company. As a hugger, this is one thing I have felt very strange about not being able to do. One does wonder how long this situation will go on.
But, let us talk about happy things. Shall we look at what I have been playing with this week?? There are a few happy snaps, but, I thought perhaps you wouldn't mind. =)

Happy Sunday, dear Kim! Lovely to visit with you...I feel quite refreshed. Oh, you must have enjoyed taking these pictures - I love how you styled your hexies and flowers!
ReplyDeleteHave a blessed, peaceful week ahead. Sending hugs!
I love the colours of your dahlias. Gladioli are divisive and come in and out of fashion but again the soft tone of the one in the photo is perfection. I love the hexie project. Are you using a pattern?
ReplyDeleteHi Kim Thank you for the lovely cheerful photos, I especially love the hexagons with the ladies. The clocks went forward here so spring and warmer weather are on the way.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes stay safe
Kay c XX
Those ladies are beautiful, aren't they. Our clocks go back an hour next weekend.....I am a bit sad about that. I am happy though, that spring and warmer weather is finally making an appearance for you, lovely Kay. Kim Xx
DeleteAs always your EPP blocks are lovely, I so enjoy seeing them. Your flowers are beautiful too. I have flowers blooming in my flowerbed too now, crocuses. I need to take a picture of them for next Sundays post. Thank you for sharing your part of the world. Stay safe and healthy! God Bless!
ReplyDeleteI always love to visit your blog and "take a moment to enjoy the flowers!"
ReplyDeleteYour posts are always so calming and full of beautiful colour! I am slightly lusting after your liberty fabrics and I think I might have said no more hexies will enter this house again, after spending eight years making my grandmothers garden quilt, but oh how gorgeous they are!
ReplyDeleteNothing like a colorful, beautiful, creative blog to cheer up my day !!!!
ReplyDeleteTake care, be safe in your little corner of paradise, Kim !
Hug
Anna
Thankyou for the little vacation! You are blessed to be in such a wonderful place surrounded with God's beauty. Your EPP is really coming along and oh what a wonderful quilt it will be!
ReplyDeleteYour blog is inspiring me to get out in my garden, even though it is cloudy here. Soon we will have flowers too.
ReplyDeleteHappy to see those beautiful dahlias again and a reminder that it must be near time for me to pot up the tubers I've saved from last fall and hope they survived the winter in my basement. I've geraniums to cut back as well, but like the sewing room, it's hard to concentrate on these seasonal tasks when the news of the day intrudes. I know I should tune out said news, but it's rather like driving past a car wreck. You can't help but look at it. Crocus were in bloom last week and daffodils are now popping out regularly. Buds swelling on the forsythia and lilacs. Some things go forward even if the rest of the world stands still. Stay safe and enjoy your glorious autumn splendor.

Pretty and soft photos, as usual. It's so refreshing to come and visit you, and I'm happy to share a cup of your favorite tea with you (with no milk please). My favorite right now is black tea with almond, and violet petals ;-) Enjoy this beautiful Sunday
ReplyDeleteOh, Kim, your thoughts so eloquently stated are mine too. I am so grateful to be out of the city, and living on a rural mountain where I am surrounded by nature's splendor. Yes, we are coming into spring and our flowers are beginning their annual show. Lovely post, thank you.
ReplyDeleteI just love visiting your blog....I'm always inspired.....and leave with a smile!
ReplyDeleteA feast for the eye as always! Such a lot of beautiful colour to brighten our day. What fun you must have putting those pictures together. Lovely work on your hexagons. Thank you. xx
ReplyDeleteIn the States we are in Spring and it's been wild. Yesterday was 60/rainy & today 40/windy. One state had a tornado touchdown but thankfully no one died. I would love to live on an island by myself but do you have to deal with hurricanes, etc? I love the EPP elements and the too love the ladies. I've been plugging through 3 cardinal cross stitch ornaments. To be honest I get tired of the frequent color changes but I've missed gifting them several Christmases so I will finish so I can finally gift them this year! I will work on something not so intense after these are finished. Not sure about garden season this year with the virus thing-one can hope & pray for normalcy to return. I may have to order a couple tomato plants this year but I could use some garden soil and compost. Take care and thank you for more eye candy. Stay safe & be blessed.
ReplyDeleteOh! Such a cheerful blog post! You have made me happy.
ReplyDeleteYour hexagons are fantastic, Kim! It looks like you are incorporating vintage embroidered linens -- or are you doing the embroidery yourself from vintage patterns? Lovely either way, and your floral photographs are simply breathtaking.
ReplyDeleteAdorable vignettes...Those ladies embroidery in the last one caught my eye!So cute!Best wishes, dear Kim.
ReplyDeleteAren't those pretty girls twirling and whirling in a merry dance pretty. Hepefully, in the not too distant future we can all enjoy a little dancing again. Kim Xx
DeleteIt makes me glad to know you are well. Your post makes me smile. With all the upheaval and uncertainty, the colors, flowers, sewing (and tea) are a balm. :-) Hugs from afar!
ReplyDeleteHola Kim
BESICOS.
Another lovely visit to your island home surrounded with bright, cheery flowers. A delightful pleasure! May Tassie continue to stay calm in the midst of the storm.
ReplyDeleteHow lovely to visit your flower filled world today Kim = just what I needed thank you. Everything is so beautiful & colourful. Yesterday was a gorgeous autumn day here & I was able to work outdoors but today is raining & I am hoping to head to the sewing room. Whenever I see your posts I always feel like stitching hexies. Take care my friend xxx
ReplyDeleteThank you for bringing happiness and positivity with your enchanting photos of flowers and amazing hexies! Take care and stay safe!
ReplyDeleteThank you for a post filled with beauty. It is sometimes hard to feel cheerful at this time. Stay safe.
ReplyDeleteHappy Sunday, Kim! All your flowers and pretties are so bright and cheery. Thank you for sharing them with us. Stay well!
ReplyDeleteThank you, lovely Gina. I hope you are keeping well. Take care. Kim Xx
DeleteAnd a colorful, beautiful Autumn it is! I always enjoy your lovely photography! Thank you for the bit of sunshine as we have had 2 days of rain... :-)
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful post. Thanks for sharing all this beauty. We need that in our world. Your quilts fit in perfectly with the flowers. Stay safe and well.
ReplyDeleteYes, the world can do with a little beauty in it's everyday, in these troubled times. You stay safe and keep well too, lovely Thelma. Kim Xx
DeleteWhat a lovely riot of color and flowers, Kim. You are an artist when it comes to arranging a perfect little venue for a snapshot. The hexies are marvelous - oooh, I love the sweet silhouette of the girl in the garden. So glad that you are well and enjoying this hiatus brought on by the virus. Scary stuff - that's for sure.
ReplyDeleteYour flowers and photos and stitching are all so lovely! Thank you for sharing!
ReplyDeleteOh Kim, what a delight it is to visit with you amongst your pretty flowers and hexies. We all need to see beauty in these days, and your little piece of heaven on earth, brings us joy and for you, peace. Your hexie quilt looks like a beautiful mosaic!! I am in awe!!
ReplyDeleteYes, it seems so unnatural for people not to be able to visit, hug, or be with their loved ones. May we keep love, faith and trust in our hearts, and prayers for the world. 🙏🏻❤️🙏🏻
And God bless YOU, beautiful Kim! Oh, thank you so much for all the lovely pink! My favorite! My cosmos were so wild last year because I put them in the dirt by the handful. They we had a big rain storm and they were beaten down. This year I shall be more spartan! I'm so glad you live where you do. I wish I could come visit you. I miss hugging the grands and the friends! Take care, lovely! xooxo
ReplyDeleteDear Kim, wonderful to hear another sign of life from you. All those beauties of flowers with which you surround yourself.
ReplyDeleteMy daughter brought me comfort tulips because we are cut off from social life.
We can do handicrafts and garden works.
It is not so bad in our small part of the world (in the countryside), although I heard today that there are already infections in our small village.
But with flowers we keep the courage in it.
Lots of love and stay healthy. ♥
Those tulips must have brounght a smile to your day, Loes. It is hard at this time for families being cut off from eah other. That is the worst part about social distancing, isn't it. May you find sprinkles of beauty and joy in your handicrafts and sweet garden. Kim Xx
DeleteThank you for sharing all the loveliness of your flowers and stitching. Such beautiful arrangements can't fail to bring joy to all of us in these troubled times. I am glad to think of you stitching and walking in your lovely garden at the bottom of the world and keeping you and your family in my thoughts :)
ReplyDeleteThank You Kim for once again bring us a beautiful and uplifting post. Autumn is such a beautiful season. It is my favorite season, with all the bright and beautiful colors of the leaves and the fresh invigorating air. Stay well and safe. God Bless.
ReplyDeleteMarilyn
Autumn is lovely, isn't it. The trees here are just beginning to turn those glorious burnished hues. It is still warm but I suppose it won't be long till the fresh invigorating air settles around me. Thank you, Marilyn, for your sweet visit. God bless you, lovely lady. Kim Xx
DeleteHi Kim;
ReplyDeleteSo nice to read your weekly blog. It is up lifting. Your flowers are beautiful especially the Gladioli. I am partial to them since our dad always had a bunch of Gladioli on the table when Marilyn and I would wake up on our birthday.
The Forsyhia bush is all in bloom and the hyacinths are blooming. We have purchased pansies and marigolds to plant in the future. the only outside activity besides in the garden is a one block walk to the mail box. Ordering is done on line. Stay safe and well. God bless
Marion
The gladioli have almost disappeared now, Marion. The one photographed is such a pretty shade of pink, that I just had to take a few happy snaps of it. I am smiling at the thought of your dad lovingly placing a bunch of these pretty flowers on the table for each of your birthdays. That must be a precious memory for both you, and Marilyn. So your hyacinths are blooming; how wonderful. Hycinths have a beautiful fragrance, don't they. I have a feeling there will be a lot of people spending time in their gardens and soaking up the fresh air in these troubled times. How pretty your pansies and marigolds will look when they are blooming. Sprinkles of sweet happiness in a troubled world. Take care, lovely Marion. God bless, you, too. KimXx
DeleteI just must make some hexies of my own to set around here and there. Yes, I do! I have not finished zooming in here on every oh-so-beautiful (may I use that again) picture! Wow! I just love everything here!
ReplyDeleteYes you must, Mary. A few sweet hexies sprinkled around your beautiful home would be the perfect touch. I know your sweet dolls would love to see a few, too. Thank you sweet lady for sprinkling a little joy to my day. Kim Xx
DeleteOh this has very much put a smile on my face, what is better than mixing beautiful flowers in all kinds of wonderful colors with such lovely hexie creations, always enjoy looking at what you have come up with next, lovely embroidery mixed with such awesome fabrics!! How wonderful that everyone is being civil, we live in a Metropolitan area and I haven't seen it myself but have heard some people have been nasty, so sorry to hear that. Take care and enjoy that wonderful home and land of yours!
ReplyDeleteHi Kim, what a lovely post. Your flowers, hexies, photos are so lovely....I'm now filled with peace just reading :-) It's early spring here, so just wet grass and what's left of dirty snow banks but if we get the sun that was forcasted, things will start drying out and getting green It will be time to clean up and get ready to sit outside - which is something that I would love to do right now. Enjoy your beautiful garden and fall weather. Love and hugs, Andree
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful post! The autumnal light is truly something else! I am preparing for my summer sowing here. It turned out I have cosmos seeds enough to sink a ship. So I am both a yarn hoarder and a seed hoarder... But all those cosmos will look lovely in the borders! Take care! Anna x
ReplyDeleteYes, all those cosmos will look so pretty as borders in your garden, Anna. So happy that spring is smiling upon you. Thank you for your sweet visit. KimXx
DeleteThank you for giving us pleasure by sharing all these beautiful photos of the flowers from your garden and your beautiful stitching. :-)
ReplyDeleteYou have definitely sprinkled floral smiles in all parts and seasons of the world. Your autumn flowers are just lovely. Enjoy your quiet time in your peaceful isolation.
ReplyDeleteYes you have indeed sprinkled lots of floral smiles. It is always a joy to visit your space and see all the wonderful creations you have made for us. Those hexies are so beautiful.I hope your garden continues to provide you much loveliness this autumn.
ReplyDeleteHello Kim,
ReplyDeleteThank you for the stunning floral beauties. It reminded me of a Open Garden Catalogue that I have in my hoard of rose books. I have Cosmos just starting to come up and some just about to bloom. They are one of the best seeds for scattering. Enjoy your time inside your home and garden. I know you won't get bored.
Happy days.
Bev.
Kim - I am indeed smiling from ear to ear, so you got your wish. Your husband's carefully tended garden is still producing such beauty - I know you realize how blessed you are! Spring is hiding from us at the moment, under a layer of fresh snow! Thanks so much for this terrific post! Stay well, my friend!
ReplyDeleteYour cheerful blog is such a haven from the craziness, Kim, I adore the pretty flowers and flowers and your hexies. We have been in lockdown for what seems like forever, I'm getting into the rhythm of it. Take good care, my friend.

Visiting your blog is always such a treat, Kim! I try and wait until I can sit and really relish all of your photos and words, they really lift the spirit! Your Dahlias are gorgeous, such soft colors. I have not tried them in my gardens here at the new house but am going to give them a try. Your hexies are really coming along. I love how you’re including a bit of embroidery pieces, too. The little crocheted lady is a sweet surprise! Hoping your autumn is warm and cozy and that you all continue to stay safe and healthy! Zenda
ReplyDeleteYour photos and flowers are extra gorgeous in this post. I just LOVE LOVE LOVE the 6th one from the bottom with all the vases and flowers and hexies on the shelf. A work of art. So happy for you to be spending your days in total beauty and peacefulness.
ReplyDeleteGod is so good to always bring us such pretty flowers. So are you, I enjoy yours so much! Such lovely, calm and peaceful photos. Just so nice. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing all those beautiful colours, flowers and your lovely quilt and needle work. Take care and keep safe. Thelma
ReplyDeletethe gladiolas are gorgeous!!! i enjoyed the last paragraph, we will never take those things for granted, ever again!!!!
ReplyDeleteYour garden provides so many beautiful flowers! It's always such a joy to come here and see all your pretties - both flowers AND stitching. Once more there are a number of your photos that should be turned into greeting cards! Of course you know how much I love your hexxies too. I had toyed with maybe making a small hexxie project but that's out now that I've used pretty much all my small-to-begin-with stash of cottons to make face masks. Someday I would really love to be able to buy one or two of those beautiful jelly roll packs of fabric and start making a quilt. Methinks it will remain a dream.
