Goodbye Autumn......Hello Spring♡

Why, hello there, lovely lovelies; lovely friends♡ Here I am again at my little place. Here at Sarah Lizzie's the gloriously-hued autumn days have sped by, catching many a ride on floating leaves as they fell to the earth. Underfoot is a carpet of burnished crinkled leaves. Mosaic carpets of golds, reds, oranges and burnished yellows, painting the earth. Alas, already they've been mornings where the landscape has been sheathed in ice. Old Man Winter's rat-a-tap-tapping on my front door is becoming irritatingly louder. He's infuriatingly incessant. Oh dear.

BUT...... before the misery of winter encompasses my little place I am setting off for a little sojourn in warmer climes. Yes indeedy, tomorrow in the wee hours of the morning I'm leaving on a jet plane, flying over land and sea, landing in San Francisco. Why, I can hear, albeit ever so softly, the lyrical strands of Peter, Paul and Mary. Yes, I am of that era. =) Not such a bad era, if you were to ask me..........

I'm off to meet my brand new grandson.  Another miracle baby for our family. My daughter and son-in-law have been undergoing IVF treatment for five l-o-n-g years. After years of infertility and heartbreak, treatment after treatment; another surgery, another failure, another loss; my daughter and son-in-law had lost hope that they would ever hold a baby of their own in their arms. But miraculously on their very last IVF attempt they were successful. It has been a very long pregnancy as my daughter was classified as a high risk pregnancy. As each week passed by we all would exhale a little more breath. Our sweet little man's name is Lenox Everest because as my daughter says "both she and her husband climbed their mountain, their Everest; to get to their little man".

So, our wee little man will need a sensory quilt in a little while, to explore. This being the case, of course Granny designed and stitched one. Something similar to the quilt I fashioned for sweet Riley but this time a few 'boyish' themes were added.

There's a rocket ship blasting off from planet earth. Who is the astronaut guiding this rocket through the galaxies, you might ask?? Why, it's our Commander Lenox, of course. Lenox's daddy's field is in designing, building and launching satellites so there had to be some space exploration somewhere on the quilt.

There's an elephant with an expandable trunk I just know Lenox will pull and tug. There's a lion whose mane is oodles of ribbons and trims, an octopus with sparkly trims and a doggie with furry ears perfect for playing peek-a-boo.

There's a car whizzing up and down streets lined with an array of fabulous buildings, a boat sailing upon the seven seas with a fleet of pirate ships, and a plane sharing the sky with hot air balloons; all travelling along ric rac which little fingers will pull along. Oh, there's a sunny sun and a puffy cloud with a rainbow of zippers for little fingers to zip up and zip down.

The centre of the quilt is rows of 4" squares from my fabric stash. For the backing I used a sweet Winnie The Pooh fabric.

Now, it wouldn't be a Sarah Lizzie's post if there wasn't a glut of happy snaps to lookity look at.  Though I've been absent from my little blog space alas, I have been capturing happy snaps as I've danced through my days. =) Would you like to dance with me down the 'happy snap' path?? Just because you haven't seen enough happy snaps already. =))

What other pretties have I been playing with while I've been playing hooky?? Not a lot. Though I've been crocheting a summer top for me. I might continue crocheting this tomorrow whilst flying on that jet plane.

It does seem as if it's been an age since I've been here...... probably because it has. =) I hope you are all travelling okay in this topsy turvy world. Thank you for visiting my little place. If you do bless my day and leave a comment; thank you so much. I don't know if I'll be able to answer by email. But for now, it's au revoir. Soon it will be time to board that jet plane, for I have a wee little man to meet and smother in cuddles♡

Until the next time.....

Linking up this week to Kathy's Slow Sunday Stitching.

  12. Oh!!! A new little one to love!!! Congratulations to everyone and please give the little man a special wee cuddle just from me. He is going to be over the moon (hah, pun was almost intended!) with his made-with-love quilt. As always you know I love your garden photos. Alas it's still too cool here for the RC to put his plants out...apparently the coldest May on record since 1967. Be safe on your travels!!!

  23. What a beautiful way to welcome the new season! Saying goodbye to autumn’s cozy, colorful charm and embracing the fresh, vibrant energy of spring always feels so refreshing. I love how spring symbolizes new beginnings, growth, and hope. Can’t wait to see the flowers bloom and feel that renewed sense of optimism in the air. Thank you for this lovely reminder to appreciate the changing seasons and the beauty each one brings!

  26. Lenox, now isn't he the cutest!! Mom always said that a woman needs to just relax and she'll get pregnant!! I am so happy that it happened for you ALL and that Lenox is brilliant. I wonder if you've gotten back, yet, or if you are still enjoying that wonderful baby boy. The quilt you made him is the cutest (outside of Riley's), that is. To go from none to having two grandbabies is absolutely the best, Kim. God is great, is He not? I did respond to you on April 15 with an email. Let me know if you did not get it, OK? I'll send it again. Is that the Fernery that you're photoing? It's a whole new angle on a fabulous place. Enjoy, enjoy Lenox Everest - thank you for sharing the Everest story - I won't soon forget that. Blessings.
